Thanks, Chook.. I have to go to work right now, so that will keep me occupied for a while. Being worn out is a good thing too. I think I might be able to sleep well tonight.. will keep my fingers crossed

Day Four AF.... This string of pearls is encouraging me.....:fingers:
But I cant seem to break this constant headache...Not terrible, but there. Pressure that i feel would be relieved my a drink, but i know that is my crazy thinking.
Does anyone else have the headache problem?YOU CREATE YOUR OWN REALITY

String a few AF pearls together with me!
Hi all,
Today is AF day 2 in this string. I am through the weekend, but I don't return to work from vacation until Thurs. I started just a part-time job this summer, and it would be way too easy to fall into a habit of frequent drinking. I'm able to usually drink moderately, it is the frequency I want to get under better control, especially now that I have more days off.
Chook, today must be day 22 for you - great going!
Bratty, I've heard of the AF headache problem, but haven't experienced it. I have found that too much caffeine, even 3 cups of daily coffee, causes night-time headaches for me. I switched to mostly green tea, which has some caffeine but a lot less. Headaches are GONE.
Choochie, you are doing great, tackling the monthly challenge as well as stringing pearls. That guarantees success. Success is important, or else you could become discouraged.
It has been a lovely day digging dirt in the garden. I still need to pot up my geranium cuttings before it gets dark.
take care, all.My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

Morning all!
bratty-yep I get the heachache thing, like a dull one that hangs around for days! It seems to have gone now though, but it was there for the first week of AF-ness! Just take panadol and try to relax and it should go..it's just your body detoxing! Maybe view it as a good sign that your body is getting rid of the poison and is working hard...just like you are! Well done!
Sunbeam- you are doing great! Maybe you could employ a 'holiday routine' to help you..like you have a daily routine when you are working, have a bit of one for holidays as well, even if its like...1. get up and drink coffee/green tea and eat. 2. Shower, dress and watch TV.......3. gardening with lots of water for drinking etc etc (hope that doesn't sound foolish). Love the green tea myself and am going to use that to cut down my coffee intake now. Basically let myself have what I wanted while going AF, but now think I need to moderate this a bit too.
Choochie- great work! Feels good doesn't it, just stringing a few together makes you 'know' that you can actually do it and survive! Hold onto that feeling of wellness and run with it.
Babysitting today, so will have four kids here today.. wish me luck!

Hey everybody,
It's another day, good to hear success stories.
Bratty, I can see those charms.
Choochie, day 8 is great - you can start counting weeks anytime you are ready.
Chook, I have given the schedule concept you mentioned lots of thought and structured my days off many times with lists of things I want to get done and just would like to do. That works, but I'm now working on getting comfortable in my own skin without alcohol, without schedules and routines. For me, this is a slow course. I really don't want to drink much any more, and when I do there isn't much pleasure in it. Perhaps I'm not being successful by anyone else's standards, but we each need to find our own path. My path includes a gradual reduction in alcohol. I can hardly remember the last time I abused alcohol, but I still want to drink less. That's not the same movtivator I see with most others here. Thank you for your thoughts, it really got my mental gears turning. Just writing this all down helps to clarify my thinking. Thank you for providing a place for me to post: I currently feel like I don't fit anywhere. I don't want to drink regularly, don't have that motivation to go AF.My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.
