    Progression for ?...wine

    Wine the final frontier.

Ive done it in my life time, 6 months i think was the longest since 21, I went without a drink... mostly for sports for some reason but now no longer doing shots, hard alcohol, or ever really have way to many to feel sick the next day or not piece together the night as many years ago...(currently mid 30s)

Im down to wine. Im at the point where I dont see any good reason to continue drinking...whats really the benefit from it and it cost money? I could spend my time doing other things. But its such a ahhhhh....glass of wine at 7pm "i deserve this"....and i actually look forward to it...yet i wake up with such guilt in the morning when i see the wine bottle empty or 1/2 empty...pending on mood.

Im in shape, workout alot, run miles and miles a week, full time job, never sit down, till i get my glass of wine :>, pretty even keeled.

looking for any stories of people who finally gave it up and how it changed their life? My fear is the reality of doing it...right now i think 3 days without a glass is admirable. But for the last 4 or 5 months ive been telling my self im getting close to quitting...i suppose this is nearing step 1.

I can't help you with a success story as I am still struggling off and on myself but I wanted to give you a big :welcome:

The fact that you are here is a first step. This place is awesome and there will be lots of support and info.

Good luck as you start your journey.

I'm right where you are .... Same drug too. It is a process but if you can do the big quit and stay quit it gets easier. I was gonna start the Oct quit early . Not ready too.

But Oct 1st I'm going for it. It's time. If I fail I will continue quitting. This is the most resolved I have been since the time I quit for like 6 years. It's gonna happen.

Well im a hard alcohol guy (and thats bad). If i drink wine i'd be sick all day.
It would be great to stop drinking forever (but we all know its one day one minute one second at a time)
If you feel that you've reached your limit with drinking then thats great. (and yes you've reached step one)
I too have drank for a very long time and REALLLY need to just quit.

The best thing i can say is "do what your spirit tells you" Follow that still small voice inside yourself and you'll be fine.

The best thing one can get in my opinion from staying sober is being free from the slavery of the bottle.
Saving money is one thing but being free from the urge to drink is an amazing thing.
For me its like getting out of a really bad marrage. lol

But i think you'll be just fine. you seem to have your head on the right path, you work out / run miles / have a job.... all great things now all you need is to rethink that 7 o clock hour and your good to go.
Easy said but hard i know.

Just remember that when that old desire comes up "just pray to your higher power to give you that extra push" (not the greatest words i know) but it does work.
I would love to hear updates on your journey of staying sober and will pray for you as well.
Life Without Drinking Is Life Worth Living.
