    Operation October - week one

I'm back on the air!! WhooHoo!! It was my modem. Which is what I thought it was but none of the "techs" I talked thought it was.

Anyway, the cable guy came and sorted it out. I could have kissed the guy but didn't really think it was the thing to do. :H

Everyone is sounding positive and strong. So glad to see all my Sept buddies and Welcome to all you newcomers. This is going to be the best October yet.

Welcome back, Lil! We all missed you! Hope the new modem didn't cost you too much.

      Welcome aboard, FindingMyself:welcome:

I'm calling it a day: a good one! Going to bed sober is so great!

      Good night, all!

Greetings everybody, and welcome back to contact, Lil, it is not the same without you and your little black kitten. I spent most of the day buried in early fall garden chores, all maintenance except I did plant a big pot of pretty deep blue and deep red pansies to cheer me through the winter. I need to keep things really simple tonight. Love, Ladybird.
        may we be well

            Good Saturday morning, everyone!

It's the Spring Valley Potato Festival for me today. I am looking forward to having a Potato Sunday and pork loin.

My plan for the weekend: no wine in the house. Can't drink it if it isn't there! Also, like LBH, I'll "keep it really simple tonight".

            I'll check in later.

G'day all. Dill, potato festival sounds wholesome and autumnal - is it all just about potatoes? No squash? And Lav, how big a do is this birthday party - your weekends seem so busy! Welcome back, Lil, and welcome onboard, Finding - this is a really supportive bunch. LBH, your flowers will be vibrant. What's the rest of the 'simple w/end' plan? I'm off to Borough Market, love love love it, they have every goodie under the sun. I feel an indulgence coming on... absolutely not wine related. Have a good Saturday eveybody.

Good morning Dill & Pam and everyone!
We have a damp day here, rainned all night. Oh well!
Dill, enjoy the potato festival, sounds delicious. Despite having much to do today I think I'm going to squeeze in the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival. It's such a joy to see the works of so many talented people. It's a great indoor activity for a soggy day

Wishing everyone a great AF Saturday, I'll check in later.

                  Good Morning Everyone,

LHB-Kiss-Keep It Simple-an old AA saying. For me that means not "over" thinking everything. It's so easy to obsese on on the small things and lose site of the bigger picture. Your pansies sound lovely. How long will they last where you live?

Lav-You do manage to keep busy. I kept busy this summer. I just have to figure out what to do this winter. This is my first winter not working.

Dilly-I love the little fetivals that go on in the fall. I really love the fact I can feed hubby and I don't have to cook. :H

Chops-I'm so glad to see you here. You're sounding strong and positive.

Pam-Your trip to the market sounds like fun. We have farmers markets here with fruits and veggies. Is that what your market is like?

Pnut-Do you have to run in heals as well as dresses? I would like to see the guys try to do that!

Hi to Sooty-I know you'll be along shortly.

Welcome Fresh-there are very supportive people here on these threads.

I hope I haven't missed anyone. I better get off here and get my day started. It's been to rainy to ride my bike so I've been walking on my treadmill. Not nearly as much fun but it does help me start the day feeling good.

                  Have a great Saturday everyone.

                    Morning all

So many folks here! It will take some time to get to know you all, but I'm looking forward to it as there is so much positive energy and support here. Thanks for the welcomes. I'm sticking close Lavande!

The potato fest sounds like fun. Can't think of a way to cook potatoes that I don't like!

There is a Celt fest in town this weekend, so I'm planning to check it out. Going out for a walk to take some pics along the river this morning.

                    Have a good day everyone.

                      Operation October - week one

Hello all, and welcome, Finding, consider yourself found. I had a nice breakfast out and the morning here is catch your breath gorgeous. I am going to have acupuncture this afternoon to see if I can get a bit more simple energy, and then I may hunt down a mineral shop and see if I can find a particularly nice fossil. It is to a be a birthday present; somehow if you put yourself next to something that is 450 million years old any birthday has an amusing perspective. Lil, where I live pansies are a perfect winter annual for a sunny south spot but they need to be the old fashioned sort with the dark faces. Our weather is routinely in the low twenties and teens at night but they survive as long as they don?t dry out. The snow usually melts within a day or two and their faces poke through, and if we have a big snow they still survive. If it gets to be less than ten Fahrenheit I cover them. They sometimes look awful but they are still in there (we can all relate to that) and in February they explode and their flowers become enormous. By May they are dying off and ready for the compost after one last bouquet for the kitchen window, very generous little plants. My plan for the weekend is what I have to do every day it seems at least for now. I can?t take on anything very challenging or dramatic after three or four, just embrace the ordinary and graze on what I have prepared earlier, watch a film, read a book, take a walk, close my eyes, page through a magazine, etc. Some days, of course, this is not remotely possible (next weekend will be quite a complex one for me) but in the meantime I am not putting myself out there if I don?t have to. We can enjoy our harvest fairs, our city streets, wherever we each are. Hello out there. Love, Ladybird.
                      may we be well

                        Hello everyone!
Wow - festivals everywhere!! Crafts, potatoes and Celts!!! Sounds like everyone will be keeping busy.
I'm just about to head out - atired in red (and black) - but no heels Pam. Black fishnet stockings though, with running shoes at the end of my legs!! These Red Dress Runs are super fun - and we sure do catch people's attention!
Have a wonderful saturday night and I'll check in on you all tomorrow!

Well, the potato festival was really great, if you measure greatness by food! Yummy stuff! After the potato sundae and pork chop sandwich there was an apple dumpling with persimmon syrup and vanilla ice cream!

Pnut, you need to provide a picture. I have to see this red dress event! Even if you just take a picture of your feet with black fishnet stockings disappearing into your running shoes!:H

Ladybirdheart, thank you for your description of your pansies. I am going to look around to see if any garden stores have hardy pansies for sale. I am curious to see if they can be grown here in the winter. I haven't ever seen anyone do it, so I have my doubts. Well, I guess I'll look it up in one of my gardening books this evening. You describe yourself as not being up to many challenges lately, especially after 4:00pm, and I can so relate! I try to keep my eye on the prize of getting to bed with a clear head. Heck, I try just about everything!

Finding, you will get to know us as we get to know you, as well. Do not be overwhelmed.

Lilmea, Are you off the dreadmill yet?!:H I don't own a treadmill, but I think if I did have a good place for one, I would get one. I think I could walk away the hours if I had a good movie playing. Do you watch TV or listen to music or anything? Sorry the weather has not been cooperating for you to get out on your bike. I know how you love to do that!

Pamina, you must tell us what goodies you found at the Burrough Market, and what indulgence you gave yourself. The potato festival was just that: potatoes! No squash. I don't know of a squash festival, but I'll be there is one somewhere!

Lav, I thought of you today when I stopped at a booth where the woman was selling embroidered sweat shirts. One of the shirts said, "Nana's Rules:" and then listed some rules. I didn't reat the rules! I just kept thinking that I would have liked the sweatshirt just to say simply: "Nanas Rule!":H My g-son calls me Nana.

Strength to all! See you tomorrow!
                          Dill

Dill, I'll be happy to stitch up a sweatshirt for you........anytime!!
Glad you enjoyed your potato fest - I loooove potatoes
I spent the afternoon in IAD territory (Baltimore Ravens territory). The Sugarloaf Craft Festival moves all around, somewhere different every weekend. It's fun, some of the vendors have been with them for years!

Sounds like everyone had a good day, that's great!
FindingMyself, you can follow me around all you want

Need to get to bed early so I can get up early and bake an apple cake for Mr Lav's birthday party. Can't wait to see how the grandson reacts to the party. He's a happy kid, I'm sure he'll come over with his party hat on.

                            Have a great night!

Please stay close and let us know how you're doing.

I missed my curry festival last week because of this blessed flu. St ill feel a wee bit weak but getting there.

Hotel booked in Belfast. It's only a short flight from here but the 1st time I've flown without the cushion of alcohol. I'm just pushing my boundaries a bit. It's hard to believe I couldn't get the bus to town without a drink on board just a few weeks ago.

Lavande, your avatar is keeping the whole family amused. We keep looking for the wink.

                              Have a smashing day.

I intend to make as much noise as possible as MR JC has a hangover. :H

Please count me in. I had a pretty good September (only two days drinking) and know it is because I made a point to post and read and support. I am feeling better than I have since the last time I was AF for a long period and am determined to have an AF October.

I am focusing alot on the CDs. The clearing CD is really helping me out as I freak out and get worried about family issues. We have been through alot in the last year and when I drink I block it out. Being AF I let myself worry to much. So it is great to have a place to go for support.
