    Operation October - week one

Late check in here for me. I did some running this morning before the rain set in for the day.

Cyn-congrats on 3 days. You're on the down hill side of this week. Hang in there, it does get better.

Pam-I hope you get a bit of a breather. You've surely had a lot of disruption in your life. :i

Dill-Breath in, breath out. I hope you enjoyed your walk.

Oney-So glad you dropped by! Hope you come back to visit soon.

Sooty-Glad to hear you're feeling better. Hope you enjoy your day in the sun.

Lav-The nice thing about grandkids...when you get tired you can send them home to their parents. It's lovely to hear how much you enjoy your time with him.

LHB-Before you put your boots on remember to take your pearls out. Could be disastrous for both you and your pearls!

Hello to Chops, Finding and Pnut. Hope you gals are having a good day.

Well, it's rainy and chilly here. The only really nice day we've had in a week has been Monday. I sure hope that wasn't our Indian summer!!

Hope everything is going well for everyone. I'll check in later.
    AF since 7/26/2009

Hi Everyone ,Hope your all having a good &relaxing Thursday .. I've read alot of post about voices in your head and thought I'd share mine. I read Allen Carr's book " Easy was to quit Smoking " he talks about "feeding the monster"ie: nicotine.. well , I pictured the "monster" as worms (yuck) , BTW I quit smoking before I finished the book and haven't had a desire to smoke since , anyway , I'm going to read his book on AL.. hopefully his powerful words will work again.. In the meantime , I am working on 30 AF for now, I don't want to make any promises that I can't keep . I'm grateful to all of you for all your help , wisdom and support :thanks::h Em

Lil lovely to see you - hope you enjoyed your run. I used to run but the old knees won't let me anymore. Its a wonderful feeling of freedom isn't it?
Pnut just you be careful if you're running in the snow - we don't want you falling over and spraining anything!
Hi Emmy - good idea visualising worms - but I quite like them so perhaps I'd need to imagine slugs instead - yukky yuk
Hi to LBH, Dill, Lav and everyone - hope thursday was a blast for you all.
          See you tomorrow

Cyntree, good job on ignoring the "Cravy Voices". I like that term. It kind of takes some of the power away from them when you label them as 'only the Cravy Voices'!

Pamina, I hope you can keep the paperwork and the changes to a manageable minimum. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Thank you for sending some rays of sun our way. It has been cloudy and rainy here today, so those rays of sun felt very good!

Lav, you must have enjoyed a quiet day today after six hour with your grandson the day before! Did the sun stick around for you? It's been rainy and cold here all day.

Sooty, a walk on the cliffs sounds so lovely! Breath-taking, actually. Are the cliffs nearby to where you live?

Hi Lil! The weather man gave us a forecast of 1-3 inches for today...hmmm...I guess it's a good thing we bought that boat!:H

Pnut, please don't tell me you saw snow! Did it stick?

Emmy, I thumbed through the Alan Carr book, but didn't purchase it. Let us know if it helps you. One book that helped me a lot was Sober For Good, by Anne Fletcher. It had lots of stories about people who became sober and how they did it.

Hi, Oney! Stop in and join us anytime! We can always use your positivity!

Recently I have noticed that I have much more natural tearing in my eyes. It feels really nice and refresshing. I usually have dry eyes and have been treated for 'dry eye'. Well, I suspect my 'dry eye' had been caused by excessive drinking. Have any of you experienced any small thing like that that is a small change for the better?

            Have a peaceful evening, all.
            Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Hi and Bye for a while. I have a super early airport taxi and much to do before then. I probably won?t be posting for a week (horrors that?s all of Week Two) but shall do my best to commandeer a machine or two and read what is going on with you. I trust everybody who has been here over this interesting, kind, and heartfelt thread will be here when I get back or I shall have to hunt you down one by one. I feel as though I take you with me; getting involved in this whole thing has changed my heart. And yes, Dill, I don?t need to take my vat of eye drops wherever I go anymore either. Don?t you love these discoveries, large and small, that await us? Love and strength, Ladybird.
              may we be well

Ladybird – got a laugh out of your packing finesse – (pearls in the hiking boots Have a lovely vacation.

Em – you sound like you are doing well. I keep reading positive posts about Carr’s book – I need to get the one on smoking (another beast to slay, but I can only tackle so many things at a time!) Congrats on bein NF since June! Very good.

Lav – how are you? Sounds like you’re enjoying life with your grandson. Good for you – and him!

Hi Lilmea I am hanging in there.

Sooty – you’re getting better and it sounds like you have some beautiful scenery to lift your spirits. It’s amazing how healing nature is when we stop and take some of it into ourselves.

Dill, meant to tell you that potato sundae sounded delicious! I’m still thinking about it. The whites of my eyes are….drumroll please… WHITE! Hey, that’s something new. I love all of the little gifts we get when we treat ourselves well!

Cyn – glad you made it through the evening. Cravy Voices is a good phrase for those nagging little demons. I’m visualizing those little demons as mosquitos buzzing around. Annoying, but one well placed swat sends them on their way.

Red – how are you doing? I’m still feeling those cravings in the afternoons, but I keep popping Kudzu and L-Glut and drinking water and tea. ??

Peanut – Brrr, you’re going to have to pull out some matching red long johns.

Hi to ChopperMom, Pam, Jackie, One2many and anyone else I missed.

It’s been a busy week at work, so am looking forward to the weekend when I will have a bit more time to spend here.

Hope everyone had a great day.

                  Operation October - week one

                  Good evening October friends,

Hi to Oney - nice to see you here

Lil, no cross posting for us today - what's up with that? Had a 'rest' day for my knees today - crawling around the living room floor yesterday with the 10 month old really put a hurting on these aging knees. No, I don't run either........just can't do it!

Don't run in the snow Pnut unless you have shoes with good traction!

Em, you're doing great! Keep going, you'll have 30 days under your belt in no time!

Sooty, hope you had a nice walk in the country today - I didn't get mine in today..........

Dill, I've noticed a serious decrease in all of my allergy symptoms which is saying something since this is hayfever season & I usually suffer!

LBH, have a safe trip, we'll be here when you return

                  FindingMyself, you sound good

Wishing each & every one of you a restful night!

                    Operation October - week one

Just a quick check in before bed. Dill, I did have dry eye when I was drinking almost daily. I went to the doc and bought special eye drops. Guess what, since I have been mostly AF my eyes are fine. I never connected that to less alcohol but it makes sense.

Findingmyself, for the last two days bad afternoon cravings and depression and anxiety, but this evening it went away and I had no cravings tonight. Weird. But I am happy I worked through it and can say I am AF. I am really thinking of how not worth it it would be to drink. I mean, I would sleep horribly, sweat, have terrible anxiety and it is just NOT WORTH IT.

I have reallly been watching my diet and have just not lost any weight - I am disappointed. I mean, I must have consumed thousands of calories of booze. I just don't understand. Any suggestions?

                      Operation October - week one

                      HI All,
I'm back in the forum, 5 days AF so far, and hoping I can keep my goals straight with a bit of insight with comrades in arms.
Red- crap, I"m praying I get a silver lining of weight loss! I will be seriously disappointed.
My SO left me on Monday, after 2 days AF, telling me I would never make the week.
So far I'm proving him wrong.
It has been shockingly easy. We moved last week, so a new house, new beginning.
I'm also on proper meds now- Concerta for ADD, so I have more self control and a better ability to rationalize with myself.
I'm ok with everything- hoping my SO believes I am staying away from the wine, and spending more time with my wee ones.
Ok, think that officially gets me into the October Freedom Month!
                      See you all tomorrow- Night!

                        Operation October - week one

Done with day 4, thanks to you all. I'm glad to hear that the Cravy Voices will diminish....actually when they came on today, I was able to take Kudzu which I thankfully had with me, and yes, they did go away pretty fast. What incredible freedom to not have that noise yapping all the time! Someone posted somewhere that they imagine their favorite drink to be some horrible unmentionable substance. I've started using that one (similar to the worms = monsters in the head) today, thinking that every bottle of vodka is actually filled with germy kerosene. It's starting to work!

LBH - have a great trip, if you're still reading.
Girlhero - wow, what spirit, good for you.
                        Pnut - stay warm
Dill, lilmea, everyone - thanks for the support

Good night, and sweet dreams to all - wishing you a great Friday.
