I am back for another try!

    Hello all,

I found MWO last April and was able to quit drinking for two months. I felt so good and so upbeat about everything. AL and I put a stop to that and I have been drinking most every day since early July. I am an alcoholic and need to stop. I will never be a moderator.

I am working the program that helped me last time and this is my first day going AF.

I am oh so tired of the endless cycle of evening drinking every day. Drinking to the point of passing out by 9 pm. What a crappy way to live!

I will be back here often during the day as I push myself hard to stay off the sauce.

                  Welcome back, com1, and welcome, Mike.R. -

Thanks also to both of you for the warning of how easily we could end up where we were before. I'm on day 74 AF, thanks to MWO, and originally thought I too could moderate. Somewhere during my initial 30 days AF, I realized that moderation was unlikely to ever be possible for me, it had never worked before, and decided AF is the way to be.

Wishing both you guys the best, you've done it before, you can do it again (and always remember those pitfalls so you don't fall in again).

I am back for another try!

                      Hi Com
Relapses are painful education experiences. You said you are an alcoholic. So am I. The day I finally realized this and accepted that al controlled my life if I took a drink was the turning point. I had always thought I would be able to control my drinking. I finally accepted that it was impossible. A fellow alcoholic ran by me how we are wired different than the normal person who has a drink. Hey I can accept that. What ever reasons the sooner an alcoholic accepts the fact they can't control al, can't moderate, can't have one, aren't happy with drinking half what they used to, is when the climb out of the al lifestyle begins.
Make not having a drink the most important thing you do each day

I am back for another try!

Welcome back. It is great to have MWO and know you get a second chance. Or third or whatever. It is scary to start drinking again and go through all the misery. I too was AF about 59 days last spring nad when the nice summer weather hit, BAM. I started back up and within a short time was drinking several days a week and feeling like he**. You can do this, we are here for you. Take care.

                          Thanks all for the input.

I made it through Day 1 o.k. and am looking forward with hopeful anticipation for today.
I hope to have time for a bike ride later on.

Al is welcome to take a flying leap if I have any say.

We are preparing for our winter in south Texas so have a lot of prep work to do in the next few days.
