November Navigators ~ AF -Week 3

Grateful to wake up free and clear. I am so filled with thankfulness that I did not drink last night. It is so wonderful to wake up in the morning knowing you made the right decision the day before. I was so upset last night and my first reaction, of course, was that drinking would take it away for awhile. And it would have, but the stuff that accompanies alcohol is not for me. I don't drink. That is my mantra when I need it to be.

Also, my problem solving skills are way better AF. I am sure that everyone else notices that not hungover, focusing on a life challenge is possible. I actually thought of a place I might like to work, so I will have to start with resume, networking, and possible parttime work to get my foot in the door. We'll have to see.

Today, work will be OK, I do something different on Fridays, so won't have the hassle of the other days. Then, I am going to an outdoor Christmas Night in a small town. Stores will be open, hot cocoa and sample of food will be available, and there will be other stuff on the streets to enjoy. I am going with my best friend, and it will be AF and fun. I am looking forward to it, and let's face it, we all need something to look forward to.:h:h

        Good morning all,

Red that sounds like so much fun! Enjoy your evening with your friend. Hope there is crispness in the air for your hot cocoa holiday night.

MM, how goes the weekend plan dear?

It's only about 4 am here, so I'm going back to catch a few more zzzzz before officially starting the day.

Wishing everyone an glorious AF day and weekend. More later!

          Hello mates,

MM-Have you started working on your af plan for the week end? You can do this you know. We are all here for you so hang in there. It is so worth it.

LHB-You wall sounds lovely. Be careful lifting all those heavy rocks!!

Just a is a short one this morning. I had a bad night last night. After 4 days of cold rain the old acky bones are screaming at me. At about 2 this morning I gave up and took some Tylenol pm. But I have a lot to do today so it's on ward and up ward.

I hope everyone has a good, af day.

Hi Navigators! Red, waking up unhung truly a gift we give outselves! I'm glad you made it through without drinking last night. You are one day stronger and laying down new neural pathways in your brain as to how you deal with life's stresses in a positive way! Change takes time, but can come, even to this old brain!:H
Keep us posted about your job change and search. I am grateful that for the most part, I have a job well matched to my personality. I am content most of the time although, like all jobs, there are days!
We have a Christmas celebration coming up in this small town that sounds exactly like the one you described. It is not until after Thanksgiving though. Very quaint, with horse drawn carriage rides and all the shops open and lit with Christmas decorations. Last time I went, I was drinking, dealing with all that goes with that: "Do I sound ok? Do I look ok? Can anyone tell? Blah, blah, blah! Oh, what
did we think was so great about drinking?!!

Lodestar, you are probably still sleeping as I type this! We are 3 hours apart. If you are like me, you are enjoying a 'real' sleep like you can only have just before dawn when AF! Such a wonderful thing. Drinking never permitted me to sleep between 4 and 7 am.

MM, we are all pulling for you! AF weekends really are great!

SD, I'm relieved you cleared that up about the court thing! You had me worried!:H

LBH, do you think you'll be able to get a picture of the Sea Ledge and post it on the thread?

Lav, Lil, my time zone buddies, I hope you are waking up to a nice day. There is a blanket of fog here, but no school delays, so I'm gonna have to get on with my day!

                Strength to all!
                Dill

                    Hi Dill,

I've never been an early riser, but I'm finding I go to bed earlier now and wake up feeling so good I like the wee hours of the morning for a little reading and reflection. Then back to bed for a couple hours before the "real" day starts. Also, a good time to call the family (in your time zone)!

Hope you have a great one! Back to bed with me!

Hi to all, Happy friday. Thanks for all the support. I don't know why I'm a bit weepy today. but I want to make the weekend AF.. no great plan. may go to an auction at 7pm tonight then by 8 want to come back online and read for support. I recieved the book and cds a few days ago but havn't had time to check them out. It is sometimes hard to get the privacy. Sat going to a irish band concert and dinner at a church hall with some of my family. none are real drinkers so when we get together we ussually visit AF, which I've always enjoyed. It was always nice going to their home and not worry about AL. So LBH you said you were making your home AF.. You may be helping some family and friends and not realize it.

                      Hugs, MM

MM-I was the same...like I'd be missing out on something if I didn't drink on the weekend...but last weekend was so awesome waking up and being able to jump out of bed and get stuff done!! I can't wait to get through this weekend...do it with me...I know WE can do it!! We ain't missin nothin!!! :l
The way you all talk about your towns and what they do for Christmas...it seems like something out of a movie....sounds BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
Well my phone is ringing...gotta run!!

                          Morning all,

MM and SD, I’ll be joining you for an AF weekend! Lots to do and I can always get a lot more done when not drinking. Not to mention I feel a heck of a lot better.

Dill, glad you’re enjoying Jekyll and Hyde, I did like the story. I’m on PSTime – 3 hours behind you early birds back east. Hey lodestar, we’re in the same time zone.

Sooty, camera is out and ready to shoot. How’s your hand at the wheel of a jeep on the African veldt?

Lil, stay warm. My knees are doing a Christopher Robin impression, “tut, tut, it feels like rain.” The old bones are better forecasters than most weather channels.

Ladybird, I’m so glad you’re looking out for the little critters under every rock. That’s sweet. They will probably all migrate to the great wall once it is complete.

Red, I think it’s good that you’re looking for work elsewhere. Whether or not anything comes up right away it’s always good to have feelers out there, maybe make some contacts. You never know where it will lead. I will be looking in a year or two as I’m on contract. The thought does not thrill me, but something I have to face and it will only benefit me if I start looking around now at potential future employees. Good luck!

Lav, what happened with the hennible the cannibal? Bet SHE tastes like chicken! Maybe she packed her bags for the Amish farm?

Hi ho hi ho... happy Friday everyone!

                            Hi All,

Hope everyone is having a great Friday so far
I jumped out of bed this morning, poured a cup of coffee & went right to work!! Busy, busy (but that's a good thing)!

Waking up free & clear really is a good thing Red.........remember that feeling

Lil, the weather & age related aches plague me as well. I've been dosing up on Arthritis strength Tylenol lately, it helps!

Hi to Dill, Lodestar, MM, SD & Finding, Sooty & LBH..........forgive me if I've forgotten anyone (my CRS is showing)

Finding, I am still dealing with hennible the cannibal. That reminds me, it's time to get out there & give them their daily lecture, ha ha. What they really need is a big dose of Lavan-itude!!!

Well, back to work, hope you all have a great day!

Warning, Warning, Will Robinson (who remembers the name of that show?? It had that robot with the arms waving around and around)...anyway, marathon post alert:

MM, SD, and Finding -- great idea to go through the weekend together! It's what we're here for, right? I cried on and off through a Saturday during my second weekend not drinking AL out of nowhere. As I look back, it seems it was feelings surfacing that I hadn't allowed to be there during the first weekend. It was the first cry I'd had in a long time that I didn't snuff with alcohol (and wasn't directly alcohol induced).

If the cravings come at you hard this weekend, try this: "Back OFF, Bitch!" Excuse the language and it might not work for everyone, but for me this is not a time to whine at it to "Pllllleeeaaase, go away, plllleeeaaase leave me be." If you can't say it, feel free to channel me! Lav's got Lavanitude, I've got a mouth like a sailor :H Hey, whatever works, right? This is a battle and I like a combination of Gratitude and Fighting Attitude! I'm grateful for clarity and whap-POW! 1-2 (fruit) punch knockout! Okay, now I'm picturing the kool-aid man in a boxing ring...oy vey!

Yesterday, I filled the whole bottom shelf of my fridge and a glass cabinet with sparkling water and Sobe life water (for a splash of flavor)...it looks like a rainbow of choices because the Sobe adds color and it makes me smile to see all my options in plain view. I spent $50 on beverages for the week yesterday, but still much cheaper than alcohol...and I hit a great sale!

I'll share some details of my weekend plan, thus far (subject to change...but not subject to AL's influence!):

Today, I'm going to work from home alone and get as much done as possible. I've got to get off MWO to get that done today...I find I'm whittling away time here that I don't have during the day sometimes, as I work from home a lot. I can no longer use the excuse that it is time I would have whittled drinking because I am not drinking and I have to get my ass in gear so that I feel good about my work accomplishments (time is ticking away on a deadline). Exercise this afternoon for sure too - hooping! I'm going to happy hour again tonight to drink as many Shirley Temple's as I can stand and then off to see New Moon (the movie) with friends.

Tomorrow I will get up bright-eyed and go to the library to work (exercise thrown in there somewhere - maybe a jog).

Sunday, work from home and a run in the park followed by watching my favorite program and early to bed (big day at the office Monday).

See how much time I can kill here rambling on? Sending everyone peace, strength and light for an AF weekend! Will check in for sure!

                              BE BOLD!
