Goodnight Navies. Thank you for the quote as usual Dill, I love having a focus. I thought consciously today about opening up, curiosity, discovery, having fun. Would not want to end up a sober old poop. Pea, I suspect that the ponderous shroud of tiredness can be part of metabolically adjusting to the lack of alcohol; I think I am chemically wired to process it as fuel after all these years. I find there is not much to do about it but give in, and from what I have read here we eventually will perk up. Keep your bright beacon pointed our way, Lodestar. SD and Scrubs, thank you for your efforts every day, it is a time of individual and collective extremes. Goodnight MM, Red, Lav, Finding, Girl (stay close), Sooty (dark cloud go poof!!!), Mica, Lil-kitty, and anybody I may have missed. You are always close by in my thoughts as I go about things. Love, Ladybird.

November Navigators ~ AF -Week 3
Morning gang, hey its not raining here yet!!! Still v windy though but heck it's helping to blow my bad mood away!
Lav you can boast about your weather anytime you like, I was just envious - I realise how much I miss the sun when there's no sign of it. Red I think you are right, the gloomy weather doesn't help.
I'm feeling better today and hope you are all doing fine too. Busy day ahead and so pleased to be facing it AF.
Have a good Thursday everyone, back later

Ahoy Matey's! Our ship is still in port, so I am hoping to find a mini safari for the afternoon. Pnut, I felt the same way when I found that website. I really would like to travel there!
Well, I'm pressed for time this morning, so I'll try to check in later. For now, here is an excerpt from the Desiderata. May it help us cope with whatever comes our way today!
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.Dill
Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Good morning friends!
Love that quote Dill - especially 'keeping peace in your soul' - that has always been difficult for me. I will be cheerful today & strive to be happy today
Red, glad to hear you had a good day yesterday, hope today is even better for you!
scrubs, I feel thoroughly 'exercised' after 6 hours with my grandson. He never stops the entire time he's here He really has been a blessing in disguise!
LBH, I think if we keep ourselve busy & engaged in all life has to offer, we'll be OK. I don't want to end up in Old Fartdom either! If we're sober, happy & healthy we can go out & try all sorts of new things. Have you considered taking up skydiving? Just kidding
Sooty, it's cloudy here this morning, rain to move in later. Maybe the sun is on the way to your area - keep an eye out. Glad you are feeling better today
I have lots to do today so I'd better get started.
Have a great Thursday!
Lav

Hi ALL!
Been another crazy one around these parts...again forgive me for not addressing each individual...I only have a minute. My day started out in court...where the defense attorney (which I knew) completely crushed me...later she came and gave me a hug and apologized and said she felt horrible and was only doing her job...which I told her she did very well!!! Ugh!!! I don't ever want to do that again!!
Just got back from Mass with my son...that helped to calm my nerves...I don't know what it is with this week but ...WOW it has been a DOOOZZZYY!!! Anyway...I'm still on board and looking forward to a smooth sailin weekend!!! Enjoy the rest of your Thursday!!
Dill-Sign me up for a safari!!! That sounds exciting!!!!

Lav, a big CONGRATS on 6 months smoke free. Well done!
Mighty, I don't know the answer to your question about why you think it would be so horrible to not drink on a weekend. Because, It really would be pretty nice to not drink on the weekend! I don't know how we all got ourselves into this twisted way of thinking, but I do know we need to get out of it! Breaking the bad habits will just take time and effort. There's no way aound it. SIGH. But it does get easier, and it is worth it!
Finding, I started listening to Jeckyl and Hyde today. I'm loving it!
Sooty, I'm glad the wind is blowing away your dark mood! I love it that you are out there, 5 hours ahead of me. I think, 'It is dinner time here, but where Sooty is, she is surely already tucked in for the night! Another day done and dusted!' Hopefully AF.
While LBH is I don't know, maybe two hours behind me? So, when I am getting my supper, I think, 'Maybe LBH is working on her wall right now?' I think of you ALL throughout the day, wondering what stage of the day you might be in.
Here is a World Clock/Time Zone chart. The cities closest to me and therefore share the same time are Indianapolis and Detroit. Anyone want to share there time?

Scrubbly, bubbly, you are sounding quite chipper!
Well, I guess I'll go have some supper now. We're eating out somewhere so I can just enjoy a leisurely meal!Dill

Hi everyone, lovely to see you all. Thanks for the time clock thingy Dill, fascinating. I'm writing this at 9.45 p.m. winding down time, thinking about bed ... so it must be 4.45pm with you and you haven't had your dinner yet - its all very complicated and fascinating!
Thankfully I've had a good day and its been AF again so happy happy Sooty.
Hope everyone is doing fine - congrats Momma Lav on 6 months without the cigs - what are you going to give up next??? Chocolate? lol
LBH hows the architecture going?
Mighty - Dill is right we've got to change our thinking. An AF weekend is a truly wonderful thing - go on give it a try - you know you want to!
Finding, Scrubbly and SD I hope thursday was a blast for you all. Have you got your cameras ready to photograph the wonderful wildlife on our safari?
I gotta go now folks, have a good rest of the day. Happy dreams to you all

Hi everyone,
Sooty- Is that you I hear softly snoring? You must be snuggled in bed by now. Sweet Dreams.
Lav-congrats on 6 months NF. Well done.
Finding-I don't know what time it is where you are but I hope you are having a peaceful evening.
SD-I must have missed something, do you mind if I ask what you were doing in court? I hope you had a good out come, what ever it was.
MM-At this point, I feel like something horrible will happen if I do drink on the week end. It is just as wonderful to wake up hang over free on Sat & Sun as it is the rest of the week!! You can do it.
LHB-Would not want to end up a sober old poop
Dill-I'm not alway able to 'keep peace in my soul' but I do know there is a lot less drama in my life these days! I also loved the time zone clock. It's wonderful that so many of us, from all over the world, can be here supporting each other.
Wishing all my shipmates a peaceful, af evening.AF since 7/26/2009

November Navigators ~ AF -Week 3
HI again!
Sorry for any confusion....No, I'm not in any legal trouble or anything like that...I had to testify in a custody hearing for one of the children I have been working with for the past two years! Not a fun deal! My son goes to a Christian school and on Thursdays he has Mass which I try to go to whenever I can...today I made sure to go!!! Always feel better after church
Anyway...all is good...for the first time (well maybe not first time but...) in 10 or 11 days I thought about how good a beer would taste....then thought to myself...hmmm, that's funny cuz you don't drink!! LOL!!! I find I'm fine if I don't start...not drinking doesn't seem to really faze me...it's that first drink....whamo...see ya!!!
So off to make supper and watch some football with my son!! Oh yea...can't forget the big spelling test tomorrow
Have a good night all!!

November Navigators ~ AF -Week 3
Hi Everybody. I am indeed two hours behind you Dill, and I too think about what each of us might be up to as we go about things. Sooty is dreaming. Our Sea Wall is moving along, or actually it is stationary and strong. I scavenged every big rock, a careful task as I am unsure where turtles and bullfrogs are wintering. Probably eighty percent of the stones were not appropriate for our wall but very wide and flat, more for a path or patio. A few of them weigh more than fifty pounds (Sooty, I think a few are more than four ?stone?) and I had to use my brain to figure out leverage rather than my old bird wings. I used the best ones to broaden an area off the pond and extended it to our Sea Wall which given all the narrow stones I have is at its highest point eighteen inches tall. The Sea Ledge. Hope we don?t have a mighty gale off the water tonight. :H I may take my truck to the quarry yard and buy some proper wall stones, but as it actually looks beautiful with what I have done so far, I may also leave it a while, at least until I raise the ?leeward? side with earth and build another terrace before we reach The Big Tree. I?ll let you know where your stones are when things are more certain. Thank you for being here with me in spirit. And rock. Love, Ladybird.may we be well

November Navigators ~ AF -Week 3
Hi there all and a happy AF Thursday (or Friday, as the case may be) to you! It is 4:30 pm here...US pacific coast time zone. Man, this place is busy today (all of MWO, not here necessarily). I hadn't noticed that before...perhaps it's the week winding down or the weekend coming up...(notice my fancy segue?)...
MM - Totally understand that fear about the weekend thing, but I promise you, nothing bad is going to come from not drinking this weekend. My first was Halloween weekend (one of my favorite holidays) and I was nervous, but did it anyway. And BOO! I'm still here! :H Did I scare ya? Stick close this weekend. You can do it, woman!
Lav - HOORAY! Quitting smoking is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G to me. I'm hoping to join you in that quest in the future. What an inspiration you are all the way around!
LHB- Lest I get a reputation for an arrogant name, I chose it because there is a song about a woman floating around in the dark with no lodestar star in sight and that is how I felt (like the woman obviously, not the star). I decided I wanted to see it every time I logged on here as a reminder that direction exists...if I can only see it.
Dill-Loved the quote from Desiderata! Thanks for that!
Sooty - glad the blues are blowing away and I know what you mean about feeling grateful for everyone here! Ditto, my friend, and back atcha!
Finding-So glad to here from you. I was trying to caught up on the thread and was thinking about you. How are you doing?
Mama - fun chatting!
Scrubbly - LOL! I laughed at the scrubbly, bubbly too!
Hi Lil, Red, GFO, Mica, Finding, and anyone I might have missed -- it isn't for lack of appreciation! 3 weeks today for me...and 4 on Thanksgiving Day! I'm counting my chickens before they hatch because I am committed and that's all she wrote. I'm looking forward to a completely clear-headed holiday and will do whatever it takes to achieve it.
:l all near and far!

November Navigators ~ AF -Week 3
Lodestar,
I hear you about wanting and planning for an AF holiday. There will be no wine in my house on Thanksgiving. I'll be drinking diet Coke, my favorite and good with turkey.
Actually mm, I was thrilled with my AF weekends, because I could enjoy my Saturdays for the first time in months. I get so much done and have time to relax.
Lav, I am so happy for you staying NF. I have quit for a while and it is freedom and health.
Well, I have decided that I am working on my resume and looking for a new job. I will take my time and do this right. My continuing problems on the job are wearing me down and I want a change of place. I realize that right now is not the best time for job changes, so I will have to be patient and sensible. But when you do the "gut check," and you dread your job, it is time to take action. Wish me luck.
Well, day 5 is almost done. I was tempted after a hard horrible end of work day, but thought of this sight, my AF team (you guys) and not wanting to change my AF signature. Thanks for being there and your support and encouragement. Today, without this site, I would have drank. Instead I can plan for day 6, ODAT.Redhibiscus

It's 11 pm & my internet has just returned - it went missing about 5 hrs. ago!!!
Just wanted to stop by & say good night to everyone. My brain is already half asleep!
A couple of things before I go:
Dill, the clock in my house is the same as yours
Sooty - NO, I will never give up chocolate
Thanks everyone for the good wishes on my 6 month quit - I'm here to tell you, in all honesty, quitting the smokes was (and still is) harder than giving up AL..............I pray I never have to go through it again
Wishing everyone a good night!
