Hello all, I am here and I'm fine. This is just a quickie cos the internet is playing up and I tried to post a couple of times yesterday and by the time I'd finished writing I was disconnected again.
Things are ok this end and I will write more fully very soon.

Red and Lodestar, I'm so happy you had a great evening AF. iI'm not drinking today and tonight I'm going to dinner and a concert with some family..and no AL for me. I
ll order a shirley temple too. Thanks for the idea.

Dill, this part of my family are not drinkers either, so it should be easier to stay AF.

Glad to see all the friendly faces! Yes Red, I love my mocktails. Even brought one to the library this morning! LOL Let me know what you find out online. Glad you are having an AF day, and please post if you're lonely. I'll be back on later tonight.

MM - WELL DONE! The shirley temples are pretty fab...they remind me of a simpler time and always made me smile. Hope the same goes for you.

Dill - hope you enjoy the visit too! We will miss you, but I'm sure someone can start the new thread for tomorrow if need be.

Lav - hope all goes well with the insanity twins.

Good evening to you whatever the time is! I've had a pleasant day, despite the weather and I'm glad to say that the worst of the gales seems to be over for the moment.
I don't think there's any damage to our house (only stopped raining after it was dark, so haven't had a proper look) but house opposite has damage to their roof - boy it has been WILD.
Its been good to be lazy today (blame the weather) but tomorrow I must get on with stuff.
I've got gifts to wrap and an absolute mountain of wet leaves to sweep up from my drive and its good to be doing these jobs AF.
Dill - hope you enjoyed the visit. Hope you had a ball.
Lav - hows it going with the daft dogs? hectic I bet.
MM and Lode - I've missed something I think - just what is a Shirley Temple?
Red that mix for bagels sounds nice, I've only recently discovered bagels - scrummy!

I'm doing my best to keep the twins separated - they seem clamer that way & so am I

Morning all, we haven't had any rain for about 10 minutes now so I'm being quick as i must get out and sweep up the soggy leaves - everytime the door opens or someone comes into the house a heap of leaves comes with them!
Lav it was the wettest day in the Uk on record yesterday - a months rain fell in one day! I feel so sorry for the people who are flooded, it must be awful. Fortunately I'm quite high up so its not a problem for us.
I know that its Thanksgiving on Thursday (also my daughter's birthday) so what do you do to celebrate? Is it a National holiday? Does everyone then go back to work on Friday?
MM well done on the concert - I shall google shirley temples and see if I've got the ingredients to make myself one - in which case Cheers!

November Navigators ~ AF -Week 3

Hi All,

Have been reading to keep focussed and up to date with goings on but a bad day at work turned into bad week. Didn?t want to bring my negative attitude to the thread. Suspect my black mood had something to do with going thru what MM was mentioning ? have also found myself to be more emotional than usual the past week and my moods are all over the place. Fortunately, and I can proudly say, am on day 14 AF and pretty damn happy about it and amazingly impressed with myself!

Had my first social outing Saturday night since becoming AF. Was just at a good friends place for dinner but he lives 30 minutes away and has 3 cats (which I?m very allergic to) so decided that was more than enough reason to test my AF powers so I could drive home and sleep in my own bed. Our nights together usually end up in drunkenness and I sleep in his spare room and wake up blocked up and itchy from the cats with a raging hangover.

As he was cooking me dinner I decided to confess to him my real reason for not drinking ? not just detox and trying to lose weight for my brothers wedding as I?d previously told him. I was more than a little shocked with his response. I confessed I was really worried about my drinking and thought I had a real problem with it. He replied that a few of my friends were also worried about me and my drinking and he was really glad I was doing something about it. I had always been under the deluded impression I had hidden my drinking habit very nicely?.apparently not! If they were concerned about the drinking me they saw, imagine how worried they?d be if they knew about the even more excessive drinking I also did by myself at home!

So I gave him permission to drink (even had a sniff of his drink but wasn?t too tempted by it) and he proceeded to get drunk. I received a Sunday morning text from him whinging about the painful hangover he?d woken up with, asking if I?d like to have it?.nooooooo way!!!

As you have all mentioned in posts this weekend, that really is the best part about going AF on weekends. Waking up healthy and full of life. The novelty of that hasn?t worn off yet and is enough motivation for me at the moment to get through the weekends AF.

Lav ? congrats on 6 months NF?that?s my next goal but one healing project at a time!

Lode ? great attitude towards AL. It?s been mean and treated us like crap so doesn?t deserve any kind of respect or kind words!

Red, Lode and MM ? doing well, keep it up. So happy for you all!

Lil ? Glad the reno?s are over and the house is clean and perfect again?must be so nice to have that over with.

Mica ? know exactly what you mean?found I needed to just get through the past week keeping an eye on thread but also staying quiet and small.

To the rest of you ? Dill, Sooty, LBH, SD, Finding, Pnut and Scrubbly ? Keep up the good work. There's so much strength and positivity happening on the ship this weekend, so happy to see we?re all getting through it unscathed! How good are we!!! xx :happy:
