Positive thoughts for making tonight al-free

Please chip in with your thoughts, I need the inspiration right now.

I thought If I don't drink tonight I will have a hundreds of pounds for the kids christmas presents.

My other thought was that although I wake up every hour, at least I wake up sober, but tired. I could have at least 8 good wake-ups tonight.
Better than waking up twice feeling my head banging with every beat of my heart.

    I think I can.

Since i have been putting sobriety into my life, ive been taking out a lot of good things,i can describe it best as a kind of quite satisfaction,That satisfaction you get is made up of lots of little things, you have the ambition to do things you would never have done if you were drinking, and adi you can

      one thought

If you drink you may not wake up at all!
Seriously, if you don't drink tonight you WILL wake up glad that you didn't in the morning. If you do drink (assuming yo do wake up!) you WILL hate yourself for doing it.....if you are an alkie that is - sorry, I don't know you. This is what I am telling myself at night. The hardest part of the day is over...I can snuggle up with a movie and escape from the world that way until tomorrow....everything else can wait till tomorrow. And then start again!
Choppy day 4 going on day 5....Bloody Hell!

If you don't drink, you can have a treat you don't normally have. What do you like?
There's a difference between tired and post-drinking tired. I slept terribly last night, and although there are some shadows under my eyes they are not puffy, and you can see my cheekbones. Tired is good - post-drinking tired is bad.
If you don't drink, your kids will be easier to deal with.
If you don't drink, you can enjoy them more.
If you don't drink, they won't hate you later for it.
Hope that helps, it helps me too.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.

          Thanks - the plan

          Thanks for your support.

The plan is to give the kids an easy dinner.

I'll get a massive rump steak, have it with homemade spicy wedges, early, say 7pm, the I'll be too full and satisfied to drink.

I'll have a lot of low sugar shandy, sparkling water and lemon, and licorice standing by.

Trouble is my resolve seems to weakening already, so I'll re-read these later.
          Thanks.
          Andrew.

            Andrew, A positive thought.
Learn the art of patience, apply discipline to your thoughts when they become anxious over the outcome of a goal, impatience breeds anxiety, fear, discouragement & failure, patience creates confidence, decisiveness and a rational outlook which eventually leads to success. :-)

I think I might do it.
                Thanks again.

Hang in there! You only have a little ways to go - go to bed early!
Watch a really good movie, read till your eyes cross - you're almost there, just a few more hours to go - you made it this far!!
Go before that fire there, at the altar of your heart

                    adi -

Take it a step at a time, just put one foot in front of the other - and before you know it, you're there.
Break it down to an hour or even a minute when a whole day seems too long. Hang tough! You can do it!

Reading everyone's positive comments has been very helpful to me and I hope it has been to Adi as well! I gave in yesterday and am already thinking about giving in tonight. I just have to remind myself how guilty I feel when I wake up after a night of drinking.....I have felt unusually weak against my cravings this week. Advice?
