Is this Day 1 for Anybody?

I could really use some support. I have been on and off again with drinking. I'm determined to go AF permanently this time around. I can't take doing this to my body and spirit any more. I can't stand the hurt I have caused my husband and family. I want to be happy and free of alcohol. Is anyone just starting out today? Does anyone want to start this journey with me?

Is this Day 1 for Anybody?

        Hi,
It's not day one for me, but to me, every morning is day one. The only difference between today and tomorrow is I didn't drink today and I can choose not to drink tomorrow. So in essence, all of us are on day one. Stay here and look around. I am almost 60 days sober and this is my first try. Keep checking up and ask the "elders" for advice when necessary......Good luck!
        AF since 2/4/10
        Nicotine free since 3/31/10

Thank you.... I feel optimistic. I plan on coming to MWO as often as possible. I really need the support. It's also nice to help others.

            Hi Reenie,
I am here about a month - I have begun listing reasosn why I should not drink. You may be able to identify with some of them which may help you.

            Best of luck.

Is this Day 1 for Anybody?

              Hi Reenie,

I am on day 1 too (day 2 now as it's the morning here in the UK) , started out with New Creation, and very happy to join you too.

I think shirazgirl makes a good point that every day is day 1, I managed 77 days and 22 days AF since coming here in July but returned to drinking each time, fortunately only for two or three weeks but nonetheless it still takes a huge toll.

I've come to see how important the support is. So good luck, we can do it!
I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you.

                    Hi Reenie,

Day one for me as well. I finally ordered the book and has started reading it. I'm just very confused as to which medication I should order. Antabuse helps but THAT VOICE always convince me to stop the Antabuse. So I'm still battling to find my switch.
                    Well, here we go

It's day 2 for me Reenie. I feel the same way you do.
My plan is to focus on how good you will feel tomorrow waking up without a hangover and how good you will feel to not be hiding anything today.
Stay busy and if you have a craving tell yourself ' I am not going to have a drink just for one hour'. Cravings come and go and after that hour you will be proud of yourself. At first, it may be hour by hour and that's ok.
You can do this. Good luck today~

                              Welcome Reenie!

Day 1 (again) for me too. All the previous advice is really, really helpful. Stay busy - if I'm bored, I find myself wanting that first glass of wine. I have gone a total of 7 days straight AF and felt really good in so many ways! Knew the holidays were going to be hard - so starting again today! I'm here for you.
