    December Determination ~ AF

Happy Monday all - thanks for the HBS quote, Dill: great reminder for when the December 'cravy voices' start to pick up speed.

LBH - you do sound strong AND happy - an inspiration!

Lil - here is how I printed just sections: select the area you want to print (left click and drag), then right click on the highlighted area and a bunch of options show up. Select 'print', then when the print dialog box comes up, be sure to click the button next to 'print selected', rather than leave it on the default 'print all'. Hope it works for you. There's probably an easier way, but this worked for me!

I'm off with Mr Tree on a short R&R visit to a beautiful area close by, supposedly filled with special energy that the Native Americans held sacred. Bringing my Epsom salts so I can take a lot of cleansing baths, and hoping to sink ever deeper into AF bliss. I'll try to check in with you when I can....oh, yes, I am of course taking my Saving Grace folder - it's filled with inspiration from you all, so I'll be sending it right back at you through the ether.

Wishing all a beautiful day - hope the storms don't catch you -
    to the light

      December Determination ~ AF

Happy monday morning to all, I am getting a late start today. But it is sunny here so that is a good thing.

Cyn, I am doing the same thing with all the inspiring info. Want my own reference book so I can refer to it quickly. I will try to print parts like you explained. I didn't know how to do that and have been printing many unwanted pages for just one wanted part. Thanks for the help.

Dill, That is a beautiful quote from Stowe. So true:h

Pheonix, Be proud of what you did. Baby steps will still get you closer to what it is you want.
We are all different and at different stages of learning.

Hi to all, Lil, Lbh, Sheri, Sooty,Lav, Red, SD,Asp, and anyone else .

I need to pay some bills today, Yuk and I think I will wrap some beautiful presents like Lil did. I always get my 3 children a new ornament each year and I wrap it and put it in a bowl on my coffee table. It makes a nice touch to decorating and they love it and have to wait till x-mas to open it.

      :l's and DETERMINATION...MM

        December Determination ~ AF

Hello everybody, I'm here again but only whispering cos I don't want the internet goblin to hear me!
Raining heavily again here and really dark now at 4.30 p.m. Miserable.
I've had a busy day, went into town thinking that early on Monday morning would be quiet -was I right? Most definitely not .... it was absolutely chockablock with people - so I'm not going there again but I did manage to get what I wanted so the rest can be either done on line or not at all.
Lots of people that I know are agreeing not to give presents to each other this year - I guess people aren't very well off and rather than have gifts that aren't needed are just not bothering. Is that happening with you?
Anyway the sleigh is still on target for the North Pole so get your wish lists ready for Santa ....
Have a good Monday all of you, keep safe
        love Sooty

Just a quick check in for me. I cleaned/decorated the entire house this weekend. Tonight I did a bit more Christmas shopping. It is amazing how much more I accomplish when I'm not drinking.

              Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi all; sorry I missed you Sooty before you nodded off in your warm bed with cold wet England temporarily far away. I took a long drive to work this morning in my own frozen dawn light in which an inversion had trapped the smoke from all the fireplaces. I had the sharp eerie flash of a memory I rarely return to when at age eleven I rode a horse away from an explosive California brush fire; I was too young to appreciate the extent of the danger but did know it was important “not to make a mistake”. It is good to recall that methodical care in face of peril is ours when we need it. We really do know what to do. Late this afternoon as I drove home, the winds ahead of an advancing storm had scrubbed everything clean; I am always humbled by weather. I love the quote about what to do at the end of ones rope; I think I will practice my knots. Have a fine evening, night, morning Dill, Lav, Lil, SD, Red, Cyn (soak up), MM, Phoenix, Sheri, Finding, Kimber, Cuckoo, and all. We are going to make it. Great to hear from you Chops. Love, Ladybird.
                  may we be well

We are making it through another Monday, hopefully AF. Sooty, lots of people I know are giving less gifts cause they are struggling financially. I think that its a good thing, because I hate the stress of all the buying and spending. Sometimes the holiday becomes too full of stuff. This year the focus will hopefully be on relationship, sharing, good food, love and laughter.:h

dill, thanks for the inspirational quotes, they are greatly appreciated.

To all of us ladies doing the Christmas decorating, shopping, planning and cooking, an AF CHEERS!!! :goodjob:

We make the holidays possible for our families, and it is wonderful, a gift we give our loved ones. But alot of work. Its fun when we share the joys. My husband helped shop over the weekend, and I will ask my daughter to cook something around the holidays to contribute. I am very happy that family traditions are being carried on.

Let's all try and be mindful of how we love our lives and are our best selves when we are AF. It is so easy to forget.....

                    Have a peaceful joyfilled evening.:l

I agree with everything Red said..My husband lost his job at the end of the summer. Living on employment now so christmas will be very light. Will also be more family dinners and games and simple times. I feel this is a silver lining for us because x-mas just gets to be too much. We both have good job prospects on the horizon and are staying positive and thankful for all we do have.

Hope all have a warm and cozy AF evening. MM

                          December Determination ~ AF

Boy it feels cold out this morning! But, it's December, what can we expect? I have a busy day ahead of me, and will do my best to make this a useful purposeful day at work. I wonder if part of the key of staying sober is spiritual mindfulness. Like the AA part of turning your life and your will over to a higher power. Knowing that we are all here for a reason - to love and to use all our talents and abilities in whatever environment we find ourselves. I mean, none of us are famous, I'm not rich, nothing exciting, but every day, if I look, I find miracles, love, and lots to do to serve others.

When I am focused on myself, I drink alcohol. For me it is as simple as that. Alcohol is about forgetting about why I am here, my purpose, the people I love, and God. It is about a feeling of being high, drunk, whatever, and now often, oblivion. Not good. IT is a deadly cycle in every way. I am so thankful, today, for this site and all of my friends here whose support and encouragement are so important to me. Our positive messages and sharing of our journeys is what makes it possible to string so many AF days together. Sending you strength and hope AF.

Red, that was well said. I will return to it today a time or two.

MM, You asked a few days ago if we are dividing this month into weeks and I forgot to answer. Yes, that is the plan. Dec. has 31 days, so we will have to have 3 8 day weeks. Week 2 starts tomorrow.

Cucks, What were the stores like at 6:00am? Were they crowded?

Soots, sorry you felt deserted last evening! We were all here somewhere. I am thinking of you all even when I neglect to post.

Chops, was the "very disrespectful teenage girl" a niece? I didn't think you had any kids at home any more. How's your son and grandson?

Lav, the snow finally fell yesterday morning just as I was to leave for work. It was really bad timing! The drive to work on a thin layer of icy snow was nerve racking, to say the least! No where near as pleasant and picturesque as LBH's drive was yesterday! Mr. Dill took my car in for new tires and an alighnment, so I was driving his jeep to work. I'm not used to driving it, so that added another layer of anxiety.

LBH, are you and Lord BH enjoying your new car?

Hello to , Phoenix, Lil, Aspman, Sheri, Finding, SD & anyone else who pops in.

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

This quote was in my Daily Inspirational quotes. We talk so much on here about the need to change our habits and thinking in order to remain af. For me, the rewards of all that hard work has been a new freedom that I never had when I was drinking.

I'm not rich, nothing exciting, but every day, if I look, I find miracles, love, and lots to do to serve others.
Red-It is so nice to have 'just a normal' day without all the al induced drama.

Dill-Be careful driving on those icy roads. My little car is so bad on icy roads, I keep a heavy bag of cat litter in the trunk for added weight.

I've been called in today as a substitute driver for Meals. At least it's my normal route so I won't get lost driving around.

Everyone have a great, warm, af day.

It's a chilly 30 degrees here this morning, the last of the weekend snow remains!

LBH, we really do know what to do 'when push comes to shove', don't we? Survival of the fittest I think!

Red, I love that our kids appreciate the traditions we have labored over all these years.

Cucks, you must have a very dedicated friend willing to meet you at 6 am on a chilly morning like this - that's really nice!

Dill, I love a little snow but icy roads were never my favorite! Be careful out there!!!!

Lil, you be careful out there as well dleivering meals - that's very nice of you
