OK, chuffed here!!! Got a tree yesterday! I proudly sawed off the bottom with the chainsaw and got it in the stand and in the house! Today consists of getting the lights on and decorating it. Guess what? It has a bird's nest in it!! Cool, eh? I'm going to leave it in there and put a fake little bird in it. Wait...what about the cat, she thinks.... Maybe not.
Decorating stuff is usually festive and fizzy water in a tumbler didn't quite cut it. So I used the suggestions of sparkly water and cranberry/pomegranate juice in a pretty wine glass. I liked the effect even though I never even got the lights on it. :H That's something that needs to be tackled fresh. No matter how neatly you put them away they are a feckin' tangled mess the next year. What is up with that??
Last year was my first year of sober holidays. I loved it. There is a nice comforting peacefulness about it. I hope you feel and enjoy it too!
