Liath! ALRIGHT!!!
And congrats to everyone else!
1 month is sneaking up on me & I'm so happy! I've done that and much, much longer before so now I say "yesterday I was a winner and today I'm choosing not to drink". I do honestly take it one day at a time.
keep the faith,

Chill -it's just another stab at it. You did it once and you can do it again.:notes:

Great to see everyone hangin in! I had such a busy day between work, an appointment, and then christmas shopping that I am beat! But I know I can deal with my day tommorrow because being a little tired is NOTHING like having a killer hangover to deal with.. or the constant 'not quite right feeling' that comes with daily drinking. I NEVER want to go back to that ugly place!
DAY 3!!!!!!!!!!!Liath

Lissie good morning.
If I remember well, what I read recently, it takes three days for your body to become detoxified from the alcohol. And I read on a post here a couple of days ago, someone wrote that they were on their third day and that the withdrawal symptoms were much lesser than the day before. For you it might just take one day more. Hang in there. You can do it! Just take it one hour, one day at a time.
Good talking to you last night in chat.
Congrats to you too, Liath, for making it through another day.
Great work to all of you (and all of us)!
Let's give ourselves a great big pat on the back. Have a great day all...

Hey Liath,
I really feel what you feel, honest. The shame of being an alcoholic can be overwhelming. I too have a Dad who is an alcoholic, but he seems to be able to control it for months at a time and then just gets wasted for days.
I have lost many jobs and friends because of my drinking and am now on a pension because of the related depresssion.
I am just starting out here and want to be a positive influence if I can. Keep talking about it. Here or wherever you can find a place you trust. I think that dialogue with people with like problems can really be a help.
Hugs and blessings to you and to all of us.

Day 3 done and bring on day 4! Yesterday I phoned up and booked surfing lessons, how cool?!
I told my daughter that I wasn't drinking and she said 'you won't make it through xmas' (not in a mean way - just matter of fact) I just shrugged my shoulder and said 'we'll see'
I have promised myself that each morning I sit here with my coffee and read all the posts cos it's so easy as the days go on to think.. 'I don't really have a problem' I have to remind my myself that I DO!
Feeling good and positive today, so nice to not have hangovers all the time.
Have a happy AF day people!

Hi Ultrabunny,
Your post is very positive and uplifting. I think you can make it through Christmas if you think you can.
It is nice to feel someone elses positivity when I am not feeling so great.
Thank you
