    having trouble coping

I wanted to say hi I just joined yesterday and I'm an severe alcoholic that it almost killed me on Christmas. The next day I went to work and I was shaking so bad I couldn't sign my name I work at a casino. They had to send me home almost in an ambulance. It took me three days to recover from dehydration. My wife wanted to leave me but she hung in there. I'm afraid of losing my job now I haven't been back yet. I've been sober for 6 days now and the anxiety is hard to deal with I start to shake and cry. I even have tears in my eyes posting this. I've tried quitting in the past but it just gets harder and harder. I don't want to go back I don't miss the drink I just want help feeling better and coping with everyday life. I want to keep my family and maintain a healthy life. I hope and need help from anybody out there willing to of support an a friend I don't know little thing that could help never went to anyone before Thank You for listening

          Hi Danny,
I feel for you - a lot of us have got so bad we have screwed up at work, with our families etc. Your wife sounds great and I hope she will support you as well as you finding some friends and help on this forum.

Over the first week or so, obviously water, water, water -electrolyte drinks are even better. Take B vitamins - thiamine - thats what they give you in detox. And most importantly, please try to be kind and gentle with yourself.

The anxiety is going to get better every day. But you are likely to need professional help if you have got yourself into such a state just trying to cope with life - again, like many of us on here, me included. I would start seeking that out as soon as you can manage it so that you can stay off the booze and start living the life you deserve.

I wish you the best of luck however you decide to do this.

My family is coming to visit tomorrow and my dad was a bad alcoholic too. he has not had drink 22 years. he's coming for a week he will be big support for me i can't wait it's my friends when they visit that i'm afraid of because we always partied when they came i guess i will cross that bridge when i get there. i've also found that i can't sit long i have to keep doing something and not sitting making excuses that i don't have enough time because i'm to busy fisting it everywhere i going usually two fisted. one thing that i've is that its nice to have money in my pocket and not spend it. its a good start to a new year thanks everyone and i'm here for you too.
