        Hi all,
Welcome to Mau - I hope it turns out its nothing serious.

Also welcome to Biba and Rude - glad you are joining us too.

Hya Cuckoo and Com, thanks for dropping in - glad you're doing well.

It is Day 2 here in the UK and I have had another good day so far. A friend and I went on a long walk to visit a cemetary called Abney Park. A load of non-conformists are buried there along with the founder of The Salvation Army. It's really interesting and beautiful with all the graves and mausoleums winding in out out of the trees.

It is absolutely FREEZING here though so I was glad to get home after being out in this weather for about 5 hours!! Still, the ankle seems to be holding up so I'm smiling. Off for a curry later - just what I need to warm myself up

Hope all of you are having a great Jan 2nd too!

I find I want to drink morewhen I am hungry and my blood sugar is low.If I'm not drinking I can be ravenous ! Make some soup , occupies a little time as well and calms me. Soak Pinto beans, lentils, mung beans , split peas ( whatever takes your fancy ) over night or for 8 hours and then cook for the recommended time, adding onions, veg, tin of tomatoes, chicken - anything left over and herbs and spices. Doesn't cost anything. The body takes a good while to burn the pulses , l(low GI and protein) . I'm not claiming a cure here but everything helps. If I am to go AF this week then I need to make a huge pan of the stuff ! Try it and let me know if it helps.
Happy New Year everyone and here's to a healthier outcome. xxx

            Hi all,

Day 2 for me and I feel good for doing this for myself. I am taking it one lifetime at a time. It is now Day 2 of my new and exciting life. There is so many things I want to do now. All the doors are open now. So, exciting. Freedom from the monster inside. Love it. Now, I can help others.

I am in for 2010!!!! My plan is "no beer for a year".....No, really....I find taking nice, long, hot showers help when I am feeling weak. I also want to start running. When the witching hour approaches, my plan is to go run/walk for 15-30 minutes (I haven't run in years...it's going to take time), and then head for the shower. By the time this is all said and done, I can make/eat dinner, and then hopefully some good shows on the tube in bed....May not be an exciting life for a bit, but it wasn't exciting watching tv with beer either.....

                  Me too!

                  Hi kimberley et al.

I haven't visited MWO forums for over 18months because thats when I fell off the wagon after 4 months AF.
So if I could forego those lovely crisp Sav Blancs ( Ha!) then, so I can again... this time I want to stop for my daughter who I have noticed is drinking daily. I wonder where she learnt that behavour? Now we have TWO bottles of wine cluttering up the fridge!! It frightens me to see her have a glass or two daily becuase I know how quickly it increases. At her age ( 25) , I was still on milk and OJ!!!
looking forward to the journey with you all and I thank you most sincerely for the support.

                  :thanks:
                  Jane

                    Hi everyone

I, too, have bummed out in spectacular style on many occasions, last year. I, too, had my last drink just before midnight on New Year's Eve.

Liath, I totally related to your comment about a dirty little secret. My drinking is the only thing in my life that I'm truly ashamed of.

I read somewhere that there's no situation whatsover that can't be made worse by alcohol and that is soooooooooo right.

Here's to Al-free lives for all of us, from now on!

i like that so many are discussing diet and exercise as part of their no-drinking plan. And by diet I mean just making healthy decisions. Why do I keep buying dark chocolate? Why have I found reasons to buy wine? Why have I decided to drink coffee again? How many excuses can I come up with to not exercise? I'm in, again, to join you.

Hello all you 2010 newbies or whatever we shall call ourselves. I had another great AF day 2 altho' I had a bit of self pity and a bit of a tiff with DW. Thought about AL but then I reminded myself "I don't drink". As with others here, if I eat at 5 or so, I have no desire to drink after meal. So that is part of my plan right now.

I felt so darn good after a bike ride yesterday and I want to continue those feelings.

                                Hi all,
I see we have some new people joining still so a big welcome to lukalee, Jane, Monica, Hula and I hope I haven't forgotten anyone.

How are we all doing? Yes it interesting that food features as a craving buster. I have been really hungry today and had some naughty stuff to eat up, so I have done that Back at work tomorrow and I will go shopping afterwards to get some nice healthy non-processed food.

I have had a slightly frustrating day but I am focussing on looking at the positives this year. So good things I have done today include finally getting our cooker cleaned up, spending a bit of time with my flatmates and having a laugh and cheering my ma up by phoning her for a chat. oh and of course, I woke up hangover-free to a nice sunny day (if very cold!) Who cares that my team lost the football (er...me)

I am off now to clean the bathroom and then hopefully get into my PJs for an early night. Hope you're all enjoying the weekend
