    A new start for 2010 - who's in and what's your plan?

    Hi Guys
Another friday night out the way and i went out for dinner with some girlfriends. Luckily none of them are big drinkers and i didnt feel out of place, in fact i would have struggled more if id been drinking as the wine wasnt flowing at the pace i would normally have liked!

I hope everyone is doing well......

          Good Saturday morning all!

Hope everyone is waking up hangover-free this morning - but if not, you are here and this is what matters. Since I've been out of the loop for a couple of days, can any one enlighten me on cowgal? I remember some of her posts but that's about it. Also - what is this L-glut you guys are talking about? Is it something you can buy over the counter and what exactly does it do? For me - stopped cold turkey without any supplements or anything - just started taking a multi-vitamin every day.

          Kim - lol - yes I'm a girl - don't even know any truckers named Bob! :H

            Hi Everyone

Its 6am Sunday here. Up early today drats. Cant sleep in any more but feel like I've had a good sleep and ready for the day. Great to keep up with you all. So good to come here and read and feel not so alone on this journey. Only got through yesterday by being on here, much determination and resolve.

With the L-Glutamine, I have only just started taking it and I haven't taken it regularly but I am going to now. I got it in powder form from a Health Food Shop. Not sure if you can get it at a Chemist but maybe. You can also get it in capsule form. On the bottle it says it helps with stress and energy and some on MWO have said its good for the cravings for sweet things incl. al. It is a building block for our bodies - an amino acid. When I have craves because I deliberately go and have some of L-Glut (just a heaped teaspoon in a little cold water does it) it could all be physcological just now but it has definitely helped to stop the feelings and thoughts of wanting al together with keeping busy. Every little thing helps I guess. Others may have much more enlightenment for you. I also just stopped al cold turkey and just kept with my usual multi vitamin but I do think our bodies need repairing and I think this is something that would help with that.

Not sure about CG. Had read yesterday that she was improving which is a miracle in itself but I don't think she has woken up yet. Still needs our love and prayers thats for sure.

            Have a great day/night all.

Nice to see so many people committed to their sobriety so early on in the year! Well done to the thread starter.

It's funny. A few days ago, out of nowhere, i had a sudden urge to cleanse myself and become healthy. I don't know if it will require total abstinence from alcohol, but it will require a general abstinence and a reduction.

Friday night, went out with girlfriend. She drank 2 glasses of wine, i had 1 + a vodka. Went back to her place, she proceeded to drink nearly the entire bottle we bought for home, i had none. Just didn't feel like it. Due to an argument with my (almost former) partner, i intended on drinking last night. Well, got caught up on the phone and didn't get time, plus i had a headache verging on a miagraine, which i did not want to worsen.

What has become clear to me is that i need some sort of life mission and 'direction' and organisation in my life. I don't have much routine, except the obligatory bottle of wine each night.

So, here i am, Monday morning, no hangover and feeling okay :goodjob:

Good luck to everyone on their healthy journey

Hi all and welcome to Change - like your short but sweet moniker!

Change it sounds like you're making some healthy decisions and that's great. It's also good that your body and subconscious seem to accepting that somewhat - mine always tend to kick against me- grr!

Glad you seem to have had a good Monday - how was everyone else's start to the week?

I have been a bit tired as I had to stay up late to finish work, but I feel I have had a productive day and was fairly calm and relaxed through most of it and have eaten healthily.

I started taking the anti-depressants my doc prescribed on saturday and so far they have made me very dry-mouthed and sensitive to light but I will give them a go, cos lets face it, it can't really hurt.

I am in the process of dying my hair purple as I have left my hair far too long without messin with it

                  Enjoy your evenings/mornings/afternoons guys

Newbie - can I join in?

Hi everyone, I've been lurking for along time and this is day 1 AF for me. I plan to abstain, not moderate as I can't moderate. I'm suffering a bit today as I went out with a bang celebrating australia day yesterday (2 bottles of wine). I am starting a new job mid Feb and have alot to look forward to and don't want to stuff it up with the booze.

                          Hi Everyone

Aussie Nurse :welcome: You have found a good place to be to help in your abs journey. I was a lurker for a long time too and only started posting in early January when I had really really totally decided I was done with al. I think being a part of this community has helped enormously with my goal to be totally af. So stick around, read a lot and post when you want to.

Oh and the prawns today went down with Lemonade and Lime Juice, my choice of beverage when I'm a bit over water, water and more water!!

I'm in week 2 of my AF journey. I had a couple of slips last week, but also some AF days linked together. My motto is to just never give up....even if there is a slip....
