My first time here
Hi I have been drinking for a long time and have tried to stop many times! But this time has to be different, for the first time my body actually feels like it is dying. This is my second day sober and i still feel like I have a hangover. It never use to be that way. I was always energetic about 24 hrs. after my last binge. This time is different, energy is no where in sight! Any suggestions for a new comer to get her health back when she doesn't even feel like moving? I'am very worried I waited to late...The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitudes of mind. William James (1842-1910)

Runningwind, just wanted to add to the welcome and also to suggest downloading the My Way Out book from the health store if you haven't already done that.
There is hope!! I was in very bad shape physically, mentally and spiritually when I first came to this site in 2007. My life is so completely different and better now! It wasn't easy but it sure was worth it to get AL out of my life and get to a healthier lifestyle. If I can do it, so can you.

Hi RM,
Congratulations on your 19 days!
Yes that feeling is fimilar - i see it as a hurdle that you will get OVER. Write down why you stopped drinking in the first place, write down all the terrible things that happened while intoxicated as a reminder.
Distract yourself the demon is fighting its hardest to survive at the moment don't let it win, it feels threathened. Know that you can beat it you have the control. Visulise your demon give it a name and tell it to go now. It will get easier as each day passes and you learn new strategies to cope in the hard times.
Do some exercise (i know this might be hard at first), fill up your time with other activities that you enjoy...write you feelings down in a journal.
REMEMBER there was a time when you didnt need AL and there will be a time again it just take time, persistence, courage and support to get there.
Hope you feel better soon - you can do this - stay close :l
Oh and forgot to mention be proud of your achievement of 19 days!Liquid MISERY guaranteed to distroy.

We all have good days and bad. We all understand how you feel. You've got the worst part behind you. Don't give in and have to start over. Don't do it for your wife, do it for yourself. You deserve to be happy and free from the demon of alcohol! Stay in here and you'll receive lots of love, encouragement and support.I'm not what I should be, I'm not what I could be. I'm definetly not who I want to be,
but I'm sure not who I used to be!
There is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still.
"I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME." Phil 4:13
