    Can't do it

Just keep plugging away, one day at a time. They will start to add up before you know it. Each day is important. If you fall down, just get right back up. We've all been there, it doesn't happen overnight, but as Doggygirl said, it is so worth it and such a better life.

Hope you have fun with your son.

Yep stop beating yourself. The fact you are here and posting is SOMETHING..so you didn't quit yet or find the right avenue...SO WHAT. I made severl attempts even before this site of moderating quitting and it amounted to nothing. I found this site and I will say a member here sent me a PM about TSM and it saved my life. My point is I was here wanting to quit get sober end the hell and I was drinking like a madman. But if I wasn't on this site and just drinking I would still be where I was ...living in hell and heading for a hole in the ground.

Try not to beat yourself up too bad and stick around and keep posting and hopefully something here will click for you...it's better than drinking and doing nothing.

Good Luck and enjoy your trip

I can't even count the number of days that started with determination to not drink, and to get a bunch of things done. Then I would have "just one" (hahahaha) for "motivation" and then before you know it, the day would be gone and nothing got done except me getting drunk. I can also relate to the days where Mr. Doggy would be away from home. If I didn't have to make dinner I would feel ELATED over the opportunity to just drink and not have that responsibility to worry about.

Then I would hate myself and swear I would not do that again today. Then I would do it again today. I did that for years.
Doggy said it all. She could be talking about me. Keep on going. One AF day is better than none.

          Kusyldi,
I hope your time away with your son is really rewarding.
As others have said, you have had a day AF, so you know you can do it. I bet you woke up the next morning feeling great. No hangover and more positive?
I have just come back from New Zealand, with a stint in Adelaide. Loved it - you are living in a beautiful country.
When you return, make some small goals and go for those, then expand on them. Build your confidence up and really do give yourself a break. You may not get it right first time, but as long as you keep your eye on the prize, you will move further away from the bottle with every step.
          Keep us updated.
