At my last doctors visit (to get Antabuse) my doctor was telling me how most alcoholics can really succeed in life once they get their problems under control. He actually said many alcoholics are "Superior" in intelligence, they just have trouble connecting the addicted brain, to the creative brain. He basically told me, in so many words, he thought I could really make something of myself, if I wanted to. It made me feel pretty good at least.I LOVE MY SEROTONIN AND BOOZE SCREWS IT UP!!!!!

I have been told the same thing....I have battled depression and my therapist told me years ago that I was way smart and because of that was too analytical.......that most people stuble through life just thinking that's how it has to be, but the smarter folks fight back and find answers.........maybe that's we are all here....I love my family more than alcohol.:h

I agree Mama Bear! These are things that should make us feel good about ourselves!
Some people do stumble through life, and are just ok with that. Im sure there are many people who just continue to drink, and really dont just care, or care to change.
We, on the other hand, are trying to change. And I know in our own time, we will get to where we want to be. We WILL find our happy place.I LOVE MY SEROTONIN AND BOOZE SCREWS IT UP!!!!!

Yes I saw the story on the Canadian Skier.
Definitely gives me some hope on a hopeless kind of day. I caved Saturday night and then again Sunday night. I'm tired, I'm sad.
People like Chris and many members on this site have suceeded which is very inspiring. I have to believe. Perhaps tomorrow I will have better spirits. Today will not one of them.
Sorry to be so down, just very disappointed in myself.

If what you are doing isn't working, try something new. Are you utilizing the My Way Out program? (as outlined in the book)
DGSobriety Date = 5/22/08
Nicotine Free Date = 2/27/07
One day at a time.

Hi DG,
No I am not utilizing the MWO programed. Need to get that.
I know my usually strategies I do to avoid alcohol that have been working, I just ignored. Like eating, having my sparkling peach and the many good sayings that I repeat to myself to keep me focussed. I just completely avoided them all and went right for the AL.
I need to stay a lot more focuessed as those strategies are extremely helpful, I just didn't bother to even try on the weekend.
Christyacc and DG I will get out the duster and get back at the AF today.
I have drank 3 times in the month of February I am going to fight like hell not to add anymore AL's this month. As I am feeling a bit better now then this morning I am gaining determination.
Thanks,
Meech
