i am on day 2 without al but just feel so anxious and shamed and everything else that goes with this disease, when will it get better?

The first couple of days are by far the worst. Just make your way through the next day or so and the anxiety should subside. Keep fighting, it's worth it.
2023 - focus, getting it done, and living the way it should be and being the person I need to be.

Well done on your AF days Scissorhands -- that is something to be proud of.
This is a journey and some things take time -- be kind to yourself and take care to drink loads of water and you'll soon start feeling more positive.

Hi trust me it does get better, for the first 3 days I had no concentration whatsoever and thought my head was going to burst!!!! Hang on in there, go for a walk, put some music or try doing a chore. Every day counts so hang on in there

Hang in there! Trust me...this will pass eventually and you will be SO happy to be free of AL's grip. It's hard at first. If one "day" at a time seems too long, take it one minute at a time or one hour at a time.

            It's worth it.

In addition to drinking lots of water, EAT. Rest. Stay busy with other things to help keep your mind off of wanting a drink.

            YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

              Scissorhands,
I think I know how you are feeling.
Be kind to yourself and patient with your body and mind. By going AF, you are choosing a new way to deal with life...and your feelings.
It probably will be uncomfortable to begin with. But that is the way it is. It takes time to learn to live without alcohol.
Good on you for having 2 days so far. It does get better! Keep going, keep going....
Let us know how you are getting on.
              Best wishes

Lots of deep breaths, a little fresh air, anything healthy thing you can think of right now will help!
If you have the CDs use them, they help a lot.
Try some form of meditation - lots on youtube available.

Hang in there, you won't be sorry
