    Tragic Day Yesterday

I am so sorry for your loss, but this is the reality of what can happen in the space of 8 months i lost my 26 year old cousin who decided to cook food whilst drunk and a gas blast occured, 4 weeks later his 30 year old brother who also drank could not take it anymore and was found hung with a empty bottle next too his body then a few months later there 40 year old sister who was also an alcoholic was strangled to death by her alcoholic boyfriend who could not even remember what had happened, thats just some of the family members i have lost through alcohol , there are alot more than that but thats the reality of what drink can do

Thanks so much everyone for you well wishes and support. It has really meant alot to me! Alcohol is evil....it just goes to show from what Scissorhands has shared and what happened to my neighbour that there are massive consequences... it sucks you in.... then i really sucks you in.

The visual is still there for me and the driveway is a massive reminder but that will lessen in time.
It was a horrible experience but i still believe it was for a reason i will not take that sign lightly.

                    Tragic Day Yesterday

I would like to thank both Over and Scissors for sharing their losses. While not the most pleasant things to read about and certainly horrible to have actually experienced these tragedies, it does help to put the reality right there in black and white. Alcohol kills, whether quickly or slowly, it will get you in the end if you let it. May these reminders help each of us when we're tempted to take a wee sip. If it could only just be one wee sip we'd be okay. But it never is and that's the main reason every one of us is here at MWO....

                        Overit,
Although your post was hard to read and bought tears to my eyes, it is a story that we all need to take heed of. I feel for you, that you found him as he was, and I feel for him that his life led him to that end.

As you say, there is a positive for you (and all of us) if you/we take this a reminder of the positive choices we can make (instead of drinking).
                        Thank you for posting.

                          So sad

Whoa, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend Greg. What a terrible thing it is to find a person dead let alone a friend. I am sad writing this. It reminds me of all the grief alcohol has caused for myself, my family and the countless souls who have been hurt one way or another by alcohol use and abuse. I am sorry.

So sad this story and it makes us all know what over drincking can do to us.
My heart is with you and finding someone like that had to reaaly hit home for all of us.
I hope you will take this to heart and remember we are all here for you.
We have to either moderate Ya right lol. or quit altogether.I have wuit for 10 days now and went thru the detox which wasn't fun believe me I was a daily drinker. I have found just going for long walks or getting to the gym(although I havne't done that as of yet) helps allot. My plan for next week is to get to the gyme after my long day at work.
Peace to you and best of luck with dealing with this sad situation.

                              After my post

I thought of a quote by Henry David Thoreau.

"Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them."
