    Dreading the Weekend

My beautiful 12 year old daughter will be spending this weekend with her dad. I hope I have the strength to remain AF. I've done it in the past, so I know it's possible...but not easy.
:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

Not easy but so very worth it K9.
Plan some things to do now, to keep you occupied, maybe there are some things that you like to do but never do because you put drinking first?

      Dreading the Weekend

      Benefits of an alcohol-free weekend
Being able to spend the evenings working on a project or spending time on a hobby
Waking up on Saturday feeling fresh and having the energy to get out and do something
      Getting two good nights sleep
Not wasting money for things I don’t really need
Not waking up on Saturday/Sunday morning and trying to remember if I posted or rang anybody on the Internet/phone the night before, put your goals into place now k9.:-)

I'll start working on my plan right now...reading, movies, relaxing, cooking....not going to put pressure on myself to be highly productive on my first weekend. I figure that will come later!

          Good idea K9!
I also add in nice hot baths with lots of bubbles and some nice music to listen to, walks with the dogs and lots of good food!

K9 - Ditto to all that Mario said...
I used to feel the need to drink twice as much on a friday night to make sure i felt twice as bad on a saturday?! Tell me the logic? Oh yes I need to celebrate the weekend by making myself as ill as possible!

Waking up on a sat/sun morning without a hangover is one of the best feelings in the world! Instead of oh shit how bad do i feel, how much did I drink? Its a big stretch, a HUGE , and boy do i feel GOOD!

                  Dreading the Weekend

                  Hi k9Lover,

The first weekend is a challenge but also very rewarding!

I agree take it easy, get lots of rest, eat some yummy food....dvd's help me relax and get out of head for a while maybe get a good chick flick!

I'm not sure what your danger period is? Mine is usually 6pm - 8pm I try and do something to distract myself. Everytime you don't give any AL you are breaking the pattern and it will become easier and easier.

I am on day 26 today with the weekend coming up. Mardi Gras is in Sydney (lots of booze and drugs) i will go and watch the parade and then make my way home. Watching people that are intoxicated also makes me realise that i really dont want to drink.

Jump on chat and talk through you danger periods - just another suggestion.
                  You will be good! :l

                    Dreading the Weekend

Thanks everyone for the support! I just found out my daughter will be home this weekend after all which makes me give a little sigh of relief. I was dreading being alone, and what that would probably lead to. Now I can plan some fun activites with my girls (one two-legged, one four-legged...lol). I'll keep close though, especially during my witching hours in the evenings!
