      Marvellous March

      Morning All,
I would like to jump on board here as well. Managed 10 AF days last month and would like to go for the full month this month. Day 2 AF for me today.
Great to see so many of you here with some AF days under your belts.
      Bring on a magnificent March!

        Marvellous March

        Hi everyone!
I'm happy to say that although I bought a bottle of wine day before yesterday on my way home from work, I only had half of it and the other half yesterday!! That's the first for me! I could never control my drinking. If I bought a bottle, it had to be finished, it never lived to see the next day!! What I noticed though is the less I drink the more I think about it. I Tried to keep myself occupied by reading your posts over and over again in order to keep me from pouring that next glass!
Your encouragement and loving unconditional support has been a blessing to me!

Hoping, I so very much appreciate the fact you shared your story with us and for giving me all the info on Bac. It helped me a lot. Are you still on 20-20-20 doses? Pls do explain what hitting the switch means. Its so wonderful that you have no side effects and cravings at all!!! But like Ronaldolover and Twitch said, I am concerned about taking it. I will take it an evening at a time and see how it goes for me. And before I decide on any meds I plan to do a checkup first.

Ronaldo, hang in there, it will be day 3 for me as well, not AF though, but hopefullly under control. Like Mama Bear said, still got a lot of work to do. By the way, MB, did you get your TOPA? Let us know how you've been.

Blue sky, Mollyka and Meech, imagine what it feels like making an idiot out of yourself in front of your child....! Waking up the next morning, barely remembering bits and pieces of the night before and wanting to beat my head up against the wall!! How do I face my 13 year old girl? What do I say this time? No words to describe it!!!!! She never laughs or talks about it. The only thing she says is how much it hurts her that she never sees her mom happy!!! That's PAIN!!!! So, don't feel embarassed or hurt for letting your friends seeing you drunk! What matters is your determination. You are stronger than all of them.

Wish everybody the strength needed to fight the devil that sucks our lives away!!
Lets all be proud of ourselves and continue to support each other.:h

Hey Melissa, good on you for restricting the amount you consumed! That is a great place to start.

              Guys,
I have been there too in terms of making a fool of myself, it happens and life will go on.
              Melissa,
I agree that it is a whole different ball game when it's your children. Many times my daughter (9) would have a sleep over and I would stay in the basement with them and I would either pass out on the computer desk or on the couch sitting up and they would tell me about it and tell my wife and she thought ity was funny. I didnt nor did my wife. My kids saw me drink every night, I am surprised they havent said anything lately about me not drinking because it has been almost 4 weeks since they have seen me with a beer. Maybe at the end, I was that good at hiding it.
I am still at 20-20-20 and cruizin along. Hitting the "switch" means that you have reached a dose where you are indifferent to alcohol, i guess that means you just dont feel that you dont need or have any desire to pick it up again.
I feel confident that if you start out with the small doses, and take your time to let your body adjust, you should not have to worry about extreme side effects. I do suggest (remember, these all based on my personal experience, everyone is different) that you choose a date after being on bac, that you have al removed from the house and you stop drinking. If you have enough bac in your system, it should help you say no without too many cravings. each day you are AF you get that much stronger and cravings are less.

Last night was another AF but I did have a dreamm where I bought beer and had two bottles in the evening and 1 in the morning (which I never do in the morning) and I felt horrible. I couldnt believ I threw away my AF days. I was some glad when I woke up and it was just a dream!
              Take care All!

Hi Everyone, What a difference another AF evening makes to your physical and mental being !!

Not sure if everyone saw a post yesterday in this same section "Just Starting Out" which I am attaching the link. https://www.mywayout.org/community/f1...day-40669.html

I highly recommend reading the response from "Boss.Man" talking about the chemical that we injest as alcohol and how it effects the different parts of our brain". He writes so it is very easy to understand.

Hoping for Best: Boss-Man also explains how the one part of our brain "the lizard brain" is on 24/7 and that is why you can have "drinking dreams". I have not had any yet, but I've only completed 3 AF nights.

I also recommend going into the "member list" and checking out all of his threads he started and his posts. He is a big researcher on the effects of the brain, and is an extremly talented writer. So at night when you are thinking about taking that first glass...stop....jump on MWO and check out his threads and posts.

                Miss O.

Hoping, thnks for getting back to me and congrats on your AF status.:goodjob: Im not there yet.... but I think I will give Bac a shot after I talk with my doctor about it. For now I am struggling with sticking to two glasses or three at the most. Day 3 today and I am doing ok, hopefully I will stick to it.

Ms. O thanks for recommending the post from Boss.man. I agree with you that he is very enlightening and a very competent writer. It really is a "state of mind". Will look for more of his posts.

Mama Bear have you received your Topa yet? Let me know when you get started on it.

Be safe everybody! You all are a great inspiration for me!

                        Marvellous March

A Marvellous March it is! Just joined MWO today and have been AF for 5 days. Hope to be for the rest of my life. Can't believe how much better I already feel. I can even get my wedding ring off, and I have lost several pounds of water bloat... Not sleeping so good -- but have more energy -- guess a little real sleep is better than passed out sleep, no?

Great job on Day 5 AF ! You are already ahead of the game for March. Post, read, and read some more. The more we learn about this addiction, the more power we have to fight it. Isn't it great when you loose the bloat. It is like someone put a pin in my stomach and let the air out. I totally agree that some sober sleep is much better than passed out sleep.

                          Good Luck. Miss O.

Welcome Violet! 5 days brill! Like you, rings I haven't worn for years are fitting me yay! The bloat is yuck. Sleepwise, definitely an hours sober sleep seems to be worth about 3 hours booze sleep. I am sleeping bout 4-5 hours a night now and its loads, I feel great.
Mama, the Topa brings to mind 'waiting for Godot'!
                            Have a nice evening everyone

                              Marvellous March

                              Hi all you Marvellous people.

Well I'm still AF and feeling good for it. Went swimming yesterday and swam a whole km! haven't done that for a while. My main 'problem' is that I can't stop sleeping (but at least I can't drink in my sleep!! :H)

Just wanted to wish everyone the best for the weekend, I know it's the hardest time of the week for many.

Keep Strong everyone and we will soon have a whole week done. :goodjob:
If alcohol made you happy I should be the happiest person alive! I'm not.

Marvellous March...sweet...to bad it doesn't look marvellous out there. All that dirty snow :yuk:

Feeling great after 4 AF evenings. I have not had 4 days in a row in some time. It is usually just a day or two here and there. AF days in a row make you feel so much better. Just finished 4 miles on the treadmill, and still feeling positive.

Nice job with the swim Blue Sky. Just make sure you don't fall asleep in the water And I totally agree with you on the weekends, they are the hardest. Good luck everyone !!

                                Miss O.
