ive found that since being AF (17 days today YIPPEE) ive become really hyper in everything i do. its great cos im getting loads of stuff done but i cant seem to relax. im taking herbal sleepy stuff (valerian and hops etc) and i am till on a go go go go mission. i think i was a bit like this before AL got a grip as i used to exercise a lot. cycle to work, gym at lunch time, cycle home then off to the gym (god was that really me). im cleaning like a maniac (well overdue) and typing so fast on here that my words get muddled. is this normal. im not knocking it but it just feels wierd. i feel like a bumble bee going buzz buzz buzz around the flowers. bzzzzzzzz xToday is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine

spuddles,
I think it's called the honeymoon period or pink cloud. In my early days I would have done the ironing, cooked the tea cleaned a cupboard out by 7am.
Around about 30 - 31 days I hit a real slumpy , boredom type feeling. I knew I wasn't going to have a drink. It soon passed because of the support I got from here. I just wrote the day off treated myself to a trashy magazine and a no brainer film and felt back in the loop the following day.

im actually hoping it goes away as i feel like a drink to wind down (yeah any old excuse.... like i need one). i had better get the cleaning done while im still a bumble bee. back to dogs, ive got 2 labs, fat yellow one called pen (she is on a diet and looking better) and sleek black one called ink. funny they eat the same but pen is just a tubby lady. thinking of breeding them this year but would i be able to part myself from cute little andrex puppies xxxToday is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine

Hey Spud,
YES, feeling pretty hyper ALOT lately (15 days AF, just 2 behind ya). Im even waking up at the crack of dawn way before my alarm goes off. I suppose im not complaining too much because I have a job where I need the added energy. Im not sure whats going on, but I like it.
Im also finding myself very very happy, like I just break out singing alot, and just generally happy. I suppose Im just grateful for feeling like I have finally "did it" after all these wasted years.
Im sure we will both calm down soon. Maybe its just the alcohol leaving our system and our bodies getting cleaned out (?). It sounds like you were already a very active person, so maybe quiting the booze just sent you in overdrive.
Great job on the 17 days! Like I said, I am just 2 behind ya!
At my last doctors visit, he gave me a script for Klonopin. He has told me three times now to try it, and it will calm me down, and probably take away any desire to drink. I guess its suppose to relax you. Maybe something like that in your future?
Keep up the AF my friend! Going back is not an option now is it?
Hugs,
OveritI LOVE MY SEROTONIN AND BOOZE SCREWS IT UP!!!!!

Fantastic for both of you Spuddleduck and Overit. And I agree I would rather by hyper and happy than hungover and miserable. :lLearn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.

Awesome!!!!! I think for many of us, we drank to calm down, take edge off, whatever. Or if your like me, just for no reason at all.
Im glad to hear the Klonopin is a good thing. My doctor thinks just right for me.
Another tool against alcohol is a wonderful thing!I LOVE MY SEROTONIN AND BOOZE SCREWS IT UP!!!!!

Spud - today is day 17 for me too. You cannot believe the projects I've checked off my list in the last 2 weeks that have been sitting here for at least a year in this house. . . . .you are not alone. I've always been hyper though - even when I drank. But, I always thought one of the reasons I started drinking in the first place was to help me get to sleep. I was always a horrible sleeper. Anyway, I'm trying to use the time. I'm sleeping better now this week and even though I have tons of energy during the day, an sleeping well at night. I'm taking a melatonin before bed to get me to slumber land & it's working just fine.
Congrats on your AF time.
