Another...I am glad about the Topa...today will be my fifth dose...no big changes yet...they say it takes 2 to 4 weeks to kick in
I slipped wed, not really big, on my sons birthday so I guess I am on day 2...again....but after that scary craving thing and trying to remember hangovers past i think, hope and pray I am on the right track to hit a week....you guys really inspire me, especially when I remember how miserable Anotherday sounded when she first got here.....

      Happy Friday...AF of course!!
This makes me laugh. I wasn't laughing a week ago!

Mama, I wish it did not take so long to kick in. I read somewhere on the Net that this person took ONE dose and it made her cravings go away. I am hoping for a miracle here. Of course, I want the weight loss too.

My Dr. really did not want to give it to me, but he did and that is all that matters. I guess a person has to have good physical health to take in, as in cholesterol and tryglicerides (at least he asked me about that).

Anyway, Mama and all, we're coming up on an AF weekend for all, I hope! :l

Thanks FG, same to you! You must have somewhere over two weeks now, right? Are you having any cravings? How long did it take for the Topa to work for you? Have you lost any weight yet?

        Happy Friday!

AD - this was day 19 for me - I'm in my 3rd week. I've lost about 5 lbs, but that may just be because I"m not consuming a bottle of wine a night and a million beers a weekend! I know I don't have as much of an appetite. The first week though, I did want a lot of sugar, but I think that's normal when you first quit drinking. I was drinking a lot on a daily basis, so my body was used to having it's sugar levels go crazy. Then you take it away & it can't adjust very well. By week 2, I was feeling much more normal, but I think the supplements were helping with that. I'd started with those the week before I actually stopped drinking altogether when I was cutting back. My last drink was on February 21 - I still can't believe it. I hope I can hang on - that's all I have to say. I did buy a little tub of Ben & Jerry's for the weekend - That chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream . . . .mmmmm . . . .now, that's what I call a date!

:H You're giving me ideas. I could go for some pistachio ice cream myself.

Wow, 19 days! You're almost to that magic 21 day number (takes 21 days to make or break a habit they say). Good going! And you've lost 5 lbs. Great!

I am only on day 2 of Topa and my taste buds aren't working as well. This means I'll only eat when my stomach says to, as I am not tasting the food like I did. Fine by me. Have you experienced this?

Yes, I find certain things just don't seem appealing to me now, which is just fine . . . . I ended up throwing some food away. Bad, I know. Now I just don't buy much, unless I know I'm going to eat it right away. I'm liking certain things. I'm really liking soup, crusty bread (probably cuz it got cold again), ice cream and some veggies like spinach, artichokes. I've been enjoying cheese especially too. Wierd .. . . Indian food tastes especially good, while certain things haven't tasted as good as before. So I did toss some left over meat with rice the other day - not sure why,but it kind of grossed me out. Now, my pals Ben & Jerry have not lost their luster . . . . ;-)

Well, everyone, I am sitting here eating steamed pork buns. I love pork buns.

I finally went to the dual diagnosis group tonight. Let's just say the pork buns are the highlight of the night.

Closing out an official week tonight AF! Yay! Sleep well everyone!

Congrats AD - a week is a big milestone & pork buns are a great way to celebrate! I love those too. We have a place here where I go for Sunday dim sum sometimes . . . .fun. Dual Diagnosis group sounds ominous - no wonder the buns were your highlight.

At any rate! Good job on your week - you sound so much better & happier than a week ago - you've come a long way!
