L-GLUT
Dear puddled spud (Hahaha, that's just too funny)
I take powder dissolved in water - about 4 g three times a day (two if I forget). I'm taking a number of other supplements, so it's a bit hard to know which does what, but the L-Glut really seems to even out my blood sugar, leading to all kinds of other benefits. I didn't have a weight problem going in (a few wine-related pounds around the tummy, not much) but I'm not getting crazy hungry now, and eating a dinner's worth of tastings while preparing it instead of waiting. I've also lost some weight, but not sure how much that's due to drinking so much less.
There's a link around here somewhere that someone will likely be able to produce. Definitely, the advice I read was to take up to 12 or 15 grams a day.
Good luck with it, I'm a believer."Kinda brainy, but with no common sense..." by permission of Anotherday

Here's a good one. The dosage is right at the bottom.

L-GLUT
Hi Spuds, I am with CG. I take at least 8000mgs a day in pill form. 2 first thing AM, 2 around noon, 2 around 4 and 2 around 8pm. I have been AF for 43 days (2 minor slips) and initially it really helped the cravings for AL, but after about 3 weeks it stopped really doing that for me. HOWEVER, L-glut has really seemed to help even out my mood, anxiety and depression. I feel overall in much better physical and mental condition. Not sure if it is the L-glut or the reduced AL intake, but I'm sticking with that supplement. I have also heard that it is safe to take up to 15grams a day!

Jellybelly, was interested when you said the l-glut helped with anxiety and depression. I find myself very anxious lately, chances are I've always been an anxious person but have medicated myself with alcohol since I was about 18!! I'm not mad on taking meds but that stuff is sort of natural isn't it?Contentedly sober since 27/12/2011
contentedly NF since 8/04/14

Molly --- yes, L-Glut is the most abundant Free Form Amino Acid in our bodies. Totally natural. I started reading about it in an exercise forum actually, it is one of the most under utilized but most important supplements you can take. I have really found it to do wonders for my mental state. And I have tried all of the other natural anxiety and depression supplements like St. Johns Wort, Valerian Root etc. If you have a chance, check out the link that Canandiangirl provided above about the benefits of L-glut. It is really informative.
