& counting!! Don't feel great yet but hope to soon. Spring is here and just being out in the sun does wonders for me especially when I'm out pounding the pedals on my bike. My next challenge which I am beginning today is to taper off the klonopin that I foolishly started on about 5 years ago. I hear this can be somewhat difficult but I am determined to get off this prescribed crap also. My goal is to do an organized 100 mile ride by fall with no alcohol or anti anxiety medication flowing in my blood. Success to everyone battling AL!!!

    AF since 15th March 2010

The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

          That's great. A whole month!

How long does it take to feel good, do you reckon?
I feel better in that I have a clear head and remember what went on the night before, and I sleep better. But I still wake up with a dry mouth and pounding head, as if I drank a bottle the night before. Not fair.

Hypernova, great job on the one month AF.

Biking sounds so fun. I agree with you that being outside in the sun and spring in general is good for our sobriety. It is so great to have an interest and a goal to work towards. It is hard sometimes to get our lives back on track when we have been drinking for years (I don't know your story) and it sounds like you have a solid sober plan to fill the time you spent drinking and recovering.

It can take time to feel better. I noticed that being AF, taking the supplements, eating right and exercising help to speed it up, but is still takes time. Have a lovely day, AF.

Well Done!! I have tapered off of Klonopin twice. It is definitely not easy, but well worth it. Best wishes.

Awesome job, hyper!!! That's so encouraging to us struggling to get through a day or a week! I take klonopin, too and smoke 2 packs of cigs a day. I hope to get off all that, too, but today, just trying to stay focused on getting through a day without alcohol! Best of luck to you!
I'm not what I should be, I'm not what I could be. I'm definetly not who I want to be,
but I'm sure not who I used to be!

Thanks everybody! Thank you for the support and all the positive energy here that has given me desire and strength to become sober. It really feels good when you put such a huge effort into something and then have people rally around you with encouragement like this. I will definitely remain connected with this site to read and post with all the uplifting & inspiring people that have helped me push alcohol away. Sobriety is my new reality. Here's to days without the haze! :thanks:
