:welcome: Dunno and Hi K9Lover - I am trying too, I could not do it without this forum. I have drank less this month than I have in the last 10 or so years. Read, post, read, post and you will soon see the benefits. You have come to a great place :l:lLearn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.

I know better to and somedays I know better then others! I find that the statement" you can never get enough of what you don't want" is so true. I don't want to drink anymore, however each evening rolls arounds and I find myself reaching up for the wine glass, and sluggin down. Maybe I have reached a point of sick and tired, I hope so......because I have been sick and tired too long. Keep posting and reading, keep trying....that's what I'll be doing! Lets do it together! ;-)

Hi Dunno,
Welcome. Tha'ts what i've been telling myself for so long. Got a beautiful wife, two lovely small children and I know how crap i feel the next morning (and the next, and the next) and yet I keep doing this to myself. Coming here and admitting you have got a problem is one enormous step towards changing this in your life. Believe me i'm no expert in giving up drinking. Guess what, I have a serious drinking problem. But together we can beat this thing for sure!! WelcomeAF since 15th March 2010
The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

Hi dunno,
Welcome to MWO, this is a good place!
We've all had to come to grips with this problem - you can too!
If you haven't already, download & read the MWO book from the Health Store at the top of the home page. Then you have to make a good plan for yourself. Look in the Tool Box (located in the Monthly Abstinence section) for good ideas for your plan.
We all have to approach this in our own way but what I did was rid my house of all AL & isolated myself (more or less) for a few weeks so as not to be tempted by others. I needed to focus on 'me' & what I needed to break my wine habit & begin to make some new, healthier habits. It worked because I will be 1 year AF in just a few days
You can do it too!
Wishing you the best on your journey & please drop in the Newbies Nest thread for support!

Hi Dunno. Take it one day at a time. I destroyed one marriage and almost destroyed another, simply through my drinking. I have now been AF for nearly 3 months and my husband tells me he is proud of me. I was lucky he gave me a final chance, after having already given me many last chances. Had I kept drinking my life could now be very unhappy. Don't destroy the happiness you have. It isn't easy to stop drinking, but you need to concentrate on what will happen if you don't stop.Alcohol is poison to my life - AF 04 January 2010
