    Somehting for the weekend

There are a lot of people here who are trying to break their 4 day cycle and have made great plans for their day.

So what about the weekend plan.

These are a few of the things I did in my early AF weekends.

I would look at on-line Real Estate Agents and pass an hour or two looking at ridiculously priced houses.
I would plan an exotic holiday to somewhere I could never possibly afford.
I updated my Friends Reunited profile (that took hours)
I would spend hours on MWO

    So have you any ideas.

        ooh Katie can I come

I just had a thought for everyone. It's Easter next weekend so get to the garden centre or DIY store this weekend. It'll be standing room only at Easter and long long queues at the check out.

          - Find yourself a soup kitchen, etc. to volunteer
          - get involved in your church (if you're religious)
          - Take your kid/s to the park (if you have kids)
          - go for a picnic with someone (kids/friends/partner)
          - go watch the latest 3d movie
          - Guys, go shopping with your wifes/girlfriends/friends. That tires me out so much, all that is on my mind is to spent the rest of the weekend in bed

The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

Catching up on all the jobs that never get done with a hangover!!
Tidying the yard and getting my pots ready for summer
Having a home spa Saturday eve - a present for mothers day off my daughter

Yeah - bring on the weekend!!

                Somehting for the weekend

For me it was the challenge of working through my very busy weekends, but not drinking. I was in the habit of slipping a lot of booze into my habits, staring about Thursday night. So instead of planning more activities, I have to plan how to keep alcohol out of my weekend. I have bought like six types of pop to keep cold for when I want a cold carbonated drink drink, it helps a bit. Coming on mwo, at night after the kids are in bed really helps with the night time urges for me.
                Have a great weekend everyone,
                Hill

Reading - for the first time in many years I can actually remember the last chapter the next day - if you know what I mean!! Looking forward to getting back to the garden as well - still a bit cool here in Dublin but!
Grown-up painting by numbers - you need so many hands for brushes, water, paint, cloths etc no room for a glass ha ha!
Have a happy sober weekend everyone

I wish we had an acquarium nearby, but it's wet enough here today that I'm expecting a shark to swim past any minute.
Cleaning windows is good. Too wet today though.
Libraries are a good place to while away an hour or two.
Take the dog for a long walk
Today I'm gong to clean and vacuum the house, clean the bathroom, iron school clothes while watching TV and when I've had enough I'll get back into a book I'm reviewing for the local paper. Tomorrow if it's fine I will take the kids to archery. It's a half hour drive into the country so we usually take our time coming home and stop off for a real fruit ice-cream at one of the orchards, or go for a bush walk.
Evenings are the most challenging for me, so I plan to cook something that takes time and effort, while sipping cranberry juice.

When the weather is nice - outdoor activites of any sort, especially where children are involved & there is no AL!

A walk through the botanical garden for inspiration, planning my summer veggie garden, starting seedlings indoors, cleanning out the chicken coop (fun activity), playing with the dogs & chickens

Look around a bit - you'll find something!!

                              Somehting for the weekend

We are an active family and I'm a busy person, but I did my drinking between 5 and 7pm mostly, and this was part of (I told myself) a relaxing wind down to the day. I did sometimes drink during the day in the weekends though, so if I drive to places, especially with the kids it stops me from thinking about drinking.
                              Keeping busy is better.
I've just thought of another idea. Rather than just browsing houses online, actually get in the car and go and look at Open Homes. My daughter loves to do this with me, so we've looked at a few this afternoon to see what we are likely to be able to afford when we sell our house.
