    What's your Sobriety Plan?

neart;924262 wrote: A story I read a while back also helped me - I hope people don't mind me putting it up here:

    A Cherokee Legend
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.

"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego." He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

      BUMP!!
If you always think what you've always thought,
You'll always feel what you've always felt.
If you always feel what you've always felt,
You'll always do what you've always done.
If you always do what you've always done,
You'll always get what you've always got.

? Read MWO threads before getting out of bed in am.
? Get out of bed and acknowledge how good I feel and how different it feels without AL night before
? Eat good nutritious food ? have breakfast!
            ? Take supplements
? Sing on way to work as I am not hung-over
? Improve self image ? lose weight, pamper a little (pedicures, lotion etc)
? Gym ? continue with trainer until I have a good routine
? Walk ? enjoy the outdoors
            ? Get finances in control
? Spend a little of the money saved from AL on treats for ME! ? flowers, books, lotions
? Acknowledge witching hour ? when alone, watch all the TV programs that I have missed; when I have girls, enjoy them! When struggling post on MWO
? Have AF drinks for the day and different ones for normal AF time (avoid feeling of depravation ? ginger ale, or tonic with lime for 5pm ? 9pm only)
? Early to bed ? use calm forte to encourage good sleep patterns
? Weekends ? do something, have a plan ? even little plans, but something that makes me feel good ? farmers market, walk, relax etc
? Acknowledge success ? do not dwell on failures
? Focus on what works, not what doesn?t
? Have something to look forward to ? something in the close future, but a carrot on a stick.
? When struggling ? read old posts and great threads to reassure myself that others have achieved this so I can too!
This is a awesome plan and I'm going to follow it too!!

              What's your Sobriety Plan?

ScottishLass has some great suggestions! I particularly like the ones where she says she will pamper herself...and why not? We were selfish when we were drinking, it's okay to be a little selfish in our sobriety. Focus on yourself so that you can get well and be able to focus on others.

I give myself a facial at least once (sometimes twice) a week now that I'm sober. I never would have done that drinking!

Find something you like to do, and do it! :l
:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

Believe in yourself. You are stronger than you think.

                    What's your Sobriety Plan?

I pretty much decided to self-rehab. No parties, no hanging
Out with friends. Very limited social activities except for
church and the gym and of course work. I know it is a temporary
                    measure, atleast for 90 days.
Iam not big on the quit drugs as I don't think I want
anything else to take me prisoner again. Iam going
cold turkey. I do a lot of green smoothies and lean protein.
I love omega 369. I work out 5 or six days a week.
My relationship with God is also in good place so
I give him all the glory for bringing me this far. Day 39 today.
Its for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm then and DO NOT let yourself be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Gal 5:1

I like how organized your plan is, Doggygirl. I'm still trying to figure mine out.Today is day 2 AF. I'm starting a journal as it seems to help sort out my thoughts. I also plan to engage myself in some of the hobbies that I used to enjoy. Staying away from others who drink will be a challenge, as my boyfriend and 2 roommates are drinkers....I feel strong enough to overcome the temptation, even if I have to hide away in my room. It will give me something to write about in my journal! Complete abstinence is my goal.

Have stopped drinking (day 4) am going to abstain for at least a month, I think I need longer, and then I think never have more than three drinks, twice or three times a month, planned with a nice dinner or other activity. I dont ever want to be drunk again... I find the only times I lose control is if I go out already having had something to drink, and also not having a plan. when I went out with a co worker I brought four beers and accepted two vodka shots but I had a heavy meal and was paying close attention to my state of mind, if I could drink like that always I would be a casual drinker but I end up just going overboard.
