What's your Sobriety Plan?
This is an awesome thread and yes Thank You Doggygirl for sharing so much of yourself and your plan. You inspire others so much! I love how you keep saying, it takes effort, it takes work but it WON'T take all those moments that recovering from a hangover used to take ~ those are great words! ~ I too am going to print your plan and carry with me. As soon as I pull myself from this slump I am in, I am going to write my plan.... I too would love to see some plans! I will post mine when I have put some thought into it and can come up with something I can actually work on... Hey DG, can you post some titles of the bio's you have read? thank you all for posting and reading and inspiring...

Instead of waiting for the slump to pass, how about making a plan which might just help you get some hope together that might help you pull out of the slump?? Just a thought... (no rest for the wicked around me!)

What's your Sobriety Plan?
I have made various plans throughout my AF journey but some things are always there and here they are:
1. No alcohol in the house
2. Be aware of the witching hours; 4 - 7 p.m. for me.
3. When a craving occurs, scan for being hungry, angry, lonely and/or tired. Then take care of it.
4. Think it through. When you want to drink, think about what happens afterwards, in detail. Maybe write it down so you can remember every detail.
5. Have a list of things you like to do, then choose them when the cravings hit.
6. Have a gratitude list.
7. Post and read on MWO and ask for support.
8. At first, avoid social events where alcohol is served till you are stronger.
9. Figure out a good eating plan.
10. Exercise, even if it is 15 minutes a few times a week. It really helps.
11. Spirituality, includes honesty, self-respect, love, trust. Start where you are comfortable. I pray in the morning and throughout the day. Meditation is meaningful too.
It is so wonderful to be AF, and right with yourself, that all the effort is so worth it. Life is still life, but not drinking and hungover, you can use good judgement to resolve the daily issues that come up for all of us.
DG, great idea, I am looking forward to reading others posts. Lots of wisdom on MWO. We are a great group of people.Formerly known as redhibiscus

What's your Sobriety Plan?
DG - WOW. Ultra-helpful. I have read in other toolbox posts that Sobriety has to be the #1 priority, but I have never seen that worked out in print. Thank you. My work and family life are rather routine-less, but I see now that I can build a strong structure for myself nonetheless.
Everybody - what things are on your list for 'treating' yourself? That's a list I need to have at the ready.
Here's to the senior members who are always there for us all - Lav, DG, Kate, et al.
Cheers -to the light

I was thinking that in order to stay AF we must think of all the positives and list them.
1. Sleeping peacefully.
2. Remembering our evenings
3. Honesty
4. Respect for ourselves and getting the respect from others
5. Feeling good physically
6. Less anxiety and depressionFormerly known as redhibiscus

Positive elements of my day 11 AF celebration.....
1. Waking up in the morning recalling every moment of the previous evening.
2. Looking in the mirror and loving the transformation taking place
3. Walking my dogs.
4. Reconnecting with my inner being. Reconnecting with God.
5. The return of my short term memory!!
