        What's your Sobriety Plan?

Good morning -- don't know if anyone is still reading this thread, but I came here because I think I started with a plan and let it slip. And when I did I slipped.

I agree it's valuable to have a plan and stick with it! I started out drinking my All-in-One each morning and exercising and slowly I started dropping things off the plan and suddenly one day I had a glass of wine in my hand. So, today I'm starting back with my plan.

Start each day with a 15 minute meditation
Eat Healthy - Lots of Fruits and Veggies
Take all supplements recommended in MWO each day
Exercise at least 5 times a week -- even if it's just taking a walk
        Read something motivational each day
Learn as much as possible about this disease to avoid future pitfalls
Be open to new possibilities that may aid my sober journey
Continue to work on my personal faith and spirituality

            What's your Sobriety Plan?

            My plan for today

            1. Snowshoe outside (big fluffy flakes falling from sky) Done

            2. House work, pick up kids, get supper on

            3. Drink some peppermint tea and have a hot relaxing sober bath (once kids are settled down for the night)

            4. Rest sober head on pillow and sleep tight.

                  What's your Sobriety Plan?

thanks DG, I just had a look through and am thinking about my plan - this thread has made me realise two things: It was when I gave up my faith in God that my drinking began to increase, and stopping going on walks and jogging were probably bad decisions... It seems in the last 5-7 years I have given up all the things that make others plans work...
I have faced it, a life wasted, and I am never going back there again

To ya'll my name is inchy. I am an alcoholic - and priority number one is making it to the end of this day AF. No excuses.

Blimey, I hadn't thought about it too much, this has made me realise I need something more organised to cover all eventualities and to help me go forward. Thanks, I'll get working on it xx

Those are interesting observations TG. I always find it helpful to know what is and isn't working for other people. That way I don't have to invent it all myself. (which didn't work anyway!!!)

I have to stay sharp. AL is always lurking. I just don't let my guard down. Don't get me wrong - I lead a very happy life. That makes me willing to MAKE SURE I keep doing the things on a daily basis that fortify my sobriety.

Having a written plan helps me a lot. Something I can look at if crazy thinking kicks in.

                          What's your Sobriety Plan?

                          Back again

                          Yep I didn't plan well...
                          So I failed...
Am sorting the plan now and trying to deal with the horrible feeling of weakness/lack of control: that goes with this disease.
How can it be... that a well respected professional person could can be taken hold by this,
On one hand I feel I can overcome,..but I havent yet,
On the other hand I feel as weak as a baby,
Perhaps that is the key? to become childlike and simplify it all?
I know there are many many of you out there...so words of wisdom are gratefully received :upset:

                            What's your Sobriety Plan?

Mayday, alcoholism touches lives in every profession, income bracket, age group, sex, geography, etc. I do not believe I am alcoholic because I did something wrong or am a "weak person." I believe that for some of us (those of us who are alcholic), alcohol brings about in us a biochemical response that is different then how other people ("normies") are affected by alcohol.

Why is one person allergic to peanuts and another is not? Why is one person allergic to shellfish and another is not? I believe it's more like that.

(of course my understanding of all this is quite unscientific!!)

How can we be so smart in some areas of our lives, and so nutty when it comes to alcohol? I don't know the details of why, but I DO know it happened to me too, and countless others around here.

For me, the problem was not that I wasn't smart enough to outsmart alcohol. The problem is that I never had a chance - once I started drinking AL the game was on and it was never a game I could win as long as I kept trying to play.

The only solution for me is abstinence, in whatever way works for me. (see My Sobriety Plan).

                            I wish you well mayday.
