    Mon 6 drinks, Tues 2 drinks Today

    Day 1 of AF

    I was in really bad shape on Sunday and felt I needed to taper down and feel ok today, still shaking but I am determined.
    Last night only slept two hours but I know I will make it through this I have too and I want to Thanks everyone here.

    Oh I do remember the shaking, my first 2 days I couldn't eat soup at work cos couldn't get the spoon to my mouth. Good on you Mya, you will feel soooooo much better tomorrow, that determination is probably the most important part of all this, become wishywashy and you're doomed. You will make it thro, sleeping is a bummer but the drunken sleeps aren't worth anything so at least you HAD 2 hours sober sleep and it will get better, my Doc said at the beginning not to get upset with sleep patterns cos it can hurtle you back into drinking to put yourself to sleep - I got a few sleeping pills at the beginning - just a thought.

      Well done. Yes the sleeping will be an issue but I find after about 5 days or so everything settles down. Whilst sleeping pills can be useful you do need to be careful as certain types can result in dependency. Also I find I'm often groggy the morning after, which for me negates their effect completely.

      Just keep going.

        On Day 2 AF and had 5 hours of sleep last night but I am doing laundry and stuff even before I get in the shower for work. Although I sm going to see the doc today about some pills. I want to be able to have a good rest this weekend so next week I can get back on the exercise wagon.

          Mya,

          Rehab gave me a drug called Trazadone for sleep. It is non-addictive and very effective.

          I use it still, occasionally. I do wake up a bit groggy but it lifts very quickly, unlike other sleep aids.

          The first two weeks, sleep is rough, after that simple Melatonin is very helpful.

          Hang in there and get through those first couple weeks. Then sleep gets so much better.
