Im sorry I missed the conversations on here last night, some very good replies! Thank you for the great advice on just being happy where you are at. I definately needed to read that and really let it sink in. Sometimes it takes somebody ELSE to say something for you for you to "get it".

Johnny may trump us as the "oldest kid" but it sounds like he has a fun journey ahead to discover. He is right, lots of people get degrees then just end up waitressing or something. Where I work there are lots of people with college degrees and yet there they doing what they need to do in these times to get by. Ok, my pity party is over!! Yay!

Its a brand new day, so lets all make it a good one shall we??? Stillbreathin, nice to meet you too! Growing up is optional isnt it?

Good luck with the presents for you know who. Please keep us posted, I know you will.

Good morning Wanna and Over. Wanna have a great time with your boy today.
Over glad to see you're feeling a little better today. I think we all get a little down from time to time about things in our lives. That's just normal. Trick is we have to learn how to deal with them. Its funny I think as alcoholics we think once we get sober we're supposed to be happy all the time or all our problems be solved overnight. That would be great but it doesn't happen that way. I'm still learning to deal with things as they come.

Thanks for the good luck. Should be interesting. I'll let you know what happens later.

Well gifts were delivered. So far nothing. Probably won't get one but I still think it was the right thing to do. Its who I am now. I've always been a very giving person when not drinking. Glad to see that came back.

My son is very tired. Guess he's been up since 2 or 3 with a stomache ache.

Morning Sk8 and Over and Wanna!
Everyone seems in fine form this morning. Except littler sk8er (. You could try a little mild peppermint tea Sk8. Hope he's feeling better. Sk8, if you don't get a thank you.....let it go. I gave gifts, sent cards to my children consistently for 8 years and rarely received thanks. It's still really bizarre how the ex brainwashed them. My point is that I let it hurt me to the point of increasingly self destructive drinking. Like many of us have done. I guess I'm just trying to warn you that you may not get one, but I suspect you will. Your wife is not trying to poison your son's brain at all so it's is a completely different scenario, but you may not get a thank you and you will be ok!
I hope your son comes around and you can really have some fun time together, if not snuggle up and enjoy! Do you have him overnight too or just two days in a row?

Hey SK8ter!! I'm so excited for you!! I do hope your son feels better fast but if he doesn't, at least he's there with you and he'll know he's safe and warm with daddy. I hope it all goes well.
I hope she has the decency to at least say thank you for the gifts. If not, well, there's something to be said for someone showing their true colors.
Sorry Johnny-I take the record for being the oldest kid!! 53, never married, no kids and trying to do a sport better left to you young 'uns!! I do own a house too and love the tax refund at the end of the year but it is a ton of work and I am consistently house poor. I hate my job-my boss is an anal micromanager and what I do is BORING but it somewhat pays the bills right now so I can't complain. I just can't figure out what I want to do when I grow up!! I dream of being my own boss but can't figure out what I can offer the world that it would pay me for it!!
BTW sk8ter-I think you're adorable and if I were 20 years younger why I..... Never mind!! Overit is right-there are plenty of women out there that think tats and punk rock and skating is sexy. When you're ready you'll find a venue in which to meet them (and it won't include bars!!!).

I am 42 and still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Lord knows I have made all the wrong turns in life! Like Sk8 says, you have to be happy and accept where you are in life. That makes it easier at least!

Hey, if you think about it, were all not THAT old. There is still time to make life changes if we really want to. I saw a lady in the news that got her high school diploma at age 100 something. Now that is some inspirations right there! Hey if we live to be 100 we still got like 50 some years to go!

Hey everyone just checking in real quick. No I got to take him back tonite but I get him again tomorrow. He's feeling better. Probably going to take a nap though. I did get a text from her. Said "I wish you wouldn't do things like that. You know I don't have money to do it too. Thanks" I replied I didn't expect anything I just wanted to do it. Your my sons mom and I care about you. I just want to make you happy. She hasn't opened them yet as she was off to her two sons baseball games. Guess we'll see later if I get more responses.
