Headaches
Hey Summer girl.
Are you drinking enough water during the day?
I would seriously go have it checked out to be honest, could be all sorts of stuff, blood sugar, etc. It's got nothing to do with the actual AL withdrawel after such a long period of abstienence.
Let me just take the opportunity tho to congratulate you for such a significant AF time!! 42 days is awesome!!!AF since 15th March 2010
The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

Headaches
Hi Summer Girl,
Are you drinking a lot of caffeinated drinks, like diet Coke and coffee? Or too much chocolate?
Like johnny said you may need to up your water intake and nothing to do with AL withdrawals.
Great going on 42 days by the way.

Headaches
Hey Summer Girl,
Actually my wife has been complaining about headaches a lot lately. I can only pass on the advice the pharmacist gave her when she went there again yesterday. If the headache is that persistent (and in her case very painfull), she HAS to get it checked out. It could be serious.
Paracetamol doesn't do nothing to her. The headache remains. (I hope she'll go to the doc on MOnday or tomorrow morning)AF since 15th March 2010

Headaches
I would seriously get checked for blood sugar problems. Those symptoms plus the excess thirst sound very much like diabetes. The AL might have been masking the symptoms all along.New Birthday: May 8, 2010

Headaches
Hi Summer girl, I think that the headaches could be sugar related. Like papmom3 states above, or hydration issues like written above as well. For sure, in non alcohol related headaches, de-hydration is often a cause. But for you, being sober and having a direct correlation to daily headaches, it makes sense that it could be the lack of daily sugar (from the booze) that has set your homeostasis off kilter. Seeing your doctor, if you can, for some blood work, might be a good idea. I hope you feel better, and great work on being af for so long, especially with a headache.

Headaches
hey Summer,
If you can get ahold of "Seven Weeks to Sobriety", check out the section on the blood work they recommend you have done. Some of the results for low blood sugar tests that many of us in recovery have are actually in the "normal" range and therefore are not treated by doctors when in fact if they dig deeper and do subtests, they will see that there really is a diagnosis of hypoglycemia. They really emphasize the 5 of 6 hour fasting glucose test. Sounds horrid but it really helps to pinpoint how bad the hypoglycemia is.
In the meantime, or if you can't get the book or get to your doctor quickly enough, cut all refined flour, caffeine and sugar out of your diet, up your veggie and fruit intake and eat only complex carbs like whole wheat breads and pastas. This is what I've gotten out of the book so far but by no means is a substitute for getting to your doctore and being honest with him/her as to what is going on with you.
Good Luck Summer and please keep us posted.

Headaches
Thank you hillside and pmom for your replys. I think you are right as I used to drink a one litre of wine or a 2 litre of cider pretty much every day so that is alot of sugar, what is odd is that I eat really healthy only brown bread, rice, pasta etc. lots of vegies and fruit. No white food or sweets. Everyone thinks I am a health freak and I guess I am except for all the AL maybe if I did not eat so healthy I would be worse. I have been usin the L-glut and alot of other vitiamins that are supposed to help in recovery.I felt wonderful for the first 2 weeks and now I feel really awuful, tired, weak, headaches and some nausea. I am afraid that the damage I have done with the AL is messed my system up and I do not know what else to do to fix it. I read here twice a day and have since before I started to be AF free. I do not post alot as there is alot of information and I do not want to repeat what some one else has already asked. I find MWO very helpful and thank every one because comming here has given me alot of help. Thanks Summer

Headaches
Hi Summer Girl, Another sign of diabetes and hypoglycemia is frequent urge to urinate and urine can be strong due to excess keytones. Nothing to mess around with as others have said.
The diet you must also include adequate and quality sources of protein to keep sugar levels stable. What you,re currently eating will metabolize relatively quickly compared to protein which takes longer leaving blood sugar more stable. Lots if info on line but do have it checked out by a professional. I'm from Canada too. )
Start by doing what's necessary, then what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible.
