    Non-Alcoholic Beer

We get called quite a few names by our spontaneous and uninhibited clients (usually drunks and dopers...the others want to be more circumspect) Blue Heeler is one of the inoffensive names. Slang is very widely used in Australia. I don't know how many times a day I call someone 'mate' - it's just a thing we do here.

BTW 4myhealth...are you on or off tonight? I'm on (slightly) only bought two bottles of beer and the first one is looking pretty sick. I don't imagine I'll be making the jump to light speed tonight, but my wife has a stash of plonk if I get desperate.

I wonder if the term 'Blue Heeler' is used here in the states when referencing an officer. Does anyone here know? I haven't heard it before but I'm not in the loop as far as lingo goes.

It's 1:25 a.m. here and yes, it was an 'on' night for me tonight. Not nearly as much as I would normally put back on a Saturday night. I'm trying to ramp up for my 'off' day on Monday or Tuesday (Tuesday seems to be a lucky day for me - it's the day of the week I quit smoking 14+ months ago).

Blue - what is 'plonk'? And what time is it in your town?

Plonk is cheap wine. Australian wines are great...even the bad ones are good. You can buy a bottle for $2.90 up to $4. They are unbranded and called 'cleanskins' alc content is around 14%, I don't usually drink more than a glass at a time, usually with dinner. Beer is my main squeeze but can also drink single malt whisky - costs a damn sight more though and at 40% it's dangerous territory.

I loved whiskey, Irish, Scotch is too sweet. I drank vodka cos I thought it didn't smell - yeah right! Plonk in Ireland is any wine under 6-7 euro, and unfortunately our slang name for cops is 'pigs'.
After that lesson in drink and language, how is everyone this morning? Envy you being able to have two scabby bottles of beer and not want anything else! Another glorious day here in Dublin

Molly...It's dinner time here now. Roast lamb, potatoes, sweet potatoes and peas with gravy and mint sauce. I still have one bottle of beer untouched. I'll kill it after dinner. 6.22pm. Weather here is pretty good too but getting cool. Jersey and long trou are necessary.
It's interesting about the time zone thing. Hard to have a long conversation with someone who's on line in the early hours. Sort of disconnects things a bit.
Anyhow, glad you've got a nice day.Hope you have a few adventures and an enjoyable time, always good to stop and smell the roses.

                      Non-Alcoholic Beer

Currently I am unable to drink non-alcoholic beer because I am taking Antabuse, and it does have some alcohol in it, so that wouldn't be safe for me. But, in previous quits I have used NA beer because I used to love the taste of beer. But I also noticed it gave me quite a stomach ache! Are you guys finding success in using NA beer?
:heart:I love my daughter more than alcohol:heart:

molly same here. my preference was whiskey mainly scotch. Went to vodka after 9/11 because family was worried about me. Thought vodka didn't smell. WRONG! I really went downhill on the vodka. It got so bad I think it depleted the zinc level in my system and my body just reeked of vodka...UGLY. I CANNOT go back to that state...techie

Thanks Coco. I have travelled a bit but when I found this place I knew it was for me.
It's not a very big town but it is very relaxed and has every amenity one could want. I like the absence of traffic lights and parking meters (council policy)...the climate is superb. Summer average temp. 29 deg, Winter 21deg. It's pretty pricey to buy here of course...big demand and small supply sees to that. I guess that there isn't amywhere better to live in Australia. All the rich and famous come here for holidays and those who can afford it have houses here (like Richard Branson of Virgin Airlines, and many many others)...it is very well serviced and policed. The beaches are fantastic and the whole area has cycle friendly paths - have an International Triathlon and various other attractions.
Just for fun have a look at Noosa, Australia on google...you'll be surprised.

                                Non-Alcoholic Beer

Today is my 2nd AF day - I haven't bought any of the non-AL beer yet but may at some point in the future. Yesterday was a breeze with no real cravings or issues but today is somewhat challenging. I slept like crap last night - got maybe 3 total hours of actual sleep but it was very broken. I had a difficult time falling asleep (normally I pretty much 'pass-out). Is the crappy, broken sleep normal? I know it's normal while boozing but didn't realize it'd get worse without the AL!!!

I need to find a good pick-me-up drink (non-AL, of course). I drink nothing but water ALL day long and by 4:30 I've always switched over to beer. I feel like I still need to switch from the water over to something else just to break up the monotony but I'm not sure what that 'new drink' will be....I've never been a soda or coffee drinker, and rarely drink tea - I don't like anything with caffeine. Any suggestions?
