Hello, from Japan
Hello everybody. It's nice to make your acquaintance. I'm an expat living in Japan. I teach English to children. Is anybody else living in Japan? Anyway, just thought I'd pop in to say hi, and I'm looking forward to posting more about myself later.

Hello, from Japan
Hello everybody, thank you very much for the warm welcome! I've not had much time to look around the forums here, but what I've seen so far has given me a very good impression, and I already feel comfortable here.
IAD, I am originally from Australia, and moved to Japan because I have family here. Strangely enough I never drank alcohol back at home, I only took it up after dealing with several stressful incidents here in Japan. The drinking started out innocuously enough - one beer in the evenings - and over a period of several years started to take over my whole life so that I was drinking in the mornings, cutting myself off from friends so that I could stay at home and drink, and generally planning my whole life around my next drink. Well, you guys know the story.
A few weeks ago I took the plunge and went to my first AA meeting. I have been attending for six weeks. I have to admit that I haven't completely stopped drinking during this time, but I've been able to drastically cut down. The other members are extremely kind and supportive, but they are all male and it doesn't look like I'm going to find a female sponsor anytime soon.
I'm very happy to find a place like this online! It's heartening to know that some of you have a Japan connection. Again, thank you all for the warm welcome. :h

Hello, from Japan
welcome fleur, I am new too and have only been here for a couple of days but I am already really impressed and overwhelmed by the support and the stories here. We are all in this together and the loneliness of hiding drink from loved ones, and coping with your fears doesn't seem so bad when you log on here.
Good luck on your journey my friend, I hope you get your female sponsor soon. :welcome:It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or the fourteenth. :teeter:
