For me, in order to help sleep better, I started exercising more, and I stared taking two very simple supplements before bedtime- vitamin D and fish oils (omega oil) - both of these products are very inexpensive and available at any farmacy etc, and can help almost anyone who does or does not use alcohol. LaReese, I am glad you are sleeping better and enjoying life without af, keep up the great work. Spuddleduck, you and I were right together, but we still are by just a few months - are you at one month now? Thanks Not tonight.

UKblonde, thanks for your kind words. In addition you ask a valid question about why I am not openly disclosing to whomever that I am af. I think, for now, the biggest reason is that when drinking I did some really stupid things, and gave everyone in my smallish community reason to talk about me. I just want some time off from people talking about me. What I am doing now, going sober, I feel is personal. I am just allowing myself some months now, to get used to my new skin. It is such a transition, that I just don't want more opinions and people getting involved.

      Thanks to you all,
      Hill
Well said Hill. I can totally relate to that. This was my attitude/way in my first few month's. We don't need any added pressure, perceived or otherwise. This is a big transition, yep, but feck ain't it grand?! Wild and free friend, No chain's, and no turning back.

      Bravo!

"I'm so thankful that I respect the strength of my enemy, and the weakness of my ability to deal with alcohol".

        Love that quote.

Congratulation Hillside. You certainly sound peaceful. It's a great place to be. Well done. Sounds like all your hard work is paying off.

          Hill,
Congratulations on your sober time. I know just what you mean about the spouse having the ace up the sleeve - I am working on the same with Mr. T. but we are only at the 5 week mark. I am going to, like you, enjoy not being the guilty one anymore.
Also, like you, when we argue I keep my cool so it does not escalate. Another thing which helps me feel capable and in control. That's a good feeling, no?
Glad to hear about your success in public venues, too. No, it's only an issue if you make it one.
          Kudos to you, Hill.

I understand your reasons for not wanting a fuss in your "real life." But the little cheerleader smilies can make a fuss here, right?

Thanks Johnnyh, greeneyes, Hippy Chick, Firefox K9lover, Dancelot, Buddy Black, 4MyHealth, Hi Cinders and thanks - I hope you don't have rough time ahead, having sobriety for my relationship has made each argument or fight less intense, last a shorter period of time, and resolve to normal again quicker. Guitarista, thanks - well said, "no chains, and no turning back". Thanks Gaia, you are right, being in control is a great feeling. Doggygirl, thanks, and yes the cheerleader girls were great - made me smile this morning!
