My Grey Eyes Are Turning Blue

Only into my ninth day. Not much of an achievement yet...but it will be.
Looked in the mirror this morning and 'Lo and behold' - my eyes are turning blue again.
For years they have been as grey as the seas round Skara Brae (where my family comes from)
This is part of my adventure and I knew it would happen. What next? I'm still excited.
I'm thinking 'keep the hammer down Blue' it's only going to get better.
Good Luck to all my fellow travellers.

      Hi Blue
9 Days AF is a wonderful achievement!
There are many people on this board who would be so proud to be able to say that they were 9 days AF! ...and you can, and should be, really proud of yourself. Well done!:goodjob:

My Grey Eyes Are Turning Blue

          Hi Blue Eyes!

Have you noticed that the whites of your eyes are whiter? The rims of the irises are clearer? Is your tongue pinker? No more white paste on the back?

Now look at your nails. If there was a whitish or pasty hue on the thumbs, you can see it going away as your kidneys and liver get back into shape. The moons will return, and be clear around the edges.

Turn to the skin on your face. Does it have more color? Is it smoother, clearer?

How about your feet and toes? Do they look leaner and bonier than you remember? Are you toes thinner? Do you see your achilles tendon and ankle bones better?

Just a few small things I've noticed...

I'll check them out Gaia. I don't know how long everything will take to come back. Hope it all does. I guess that the alcohol has depleted many nutrients over the years. I don't supplement very much, just a one-a-day multi-vitamin. I've done this for years.
I also take glucosamine because I wrenched my knee a couple of years ago. It works a treat. Also take 1000mg of Omega 3. Just because my wife said I ought to.

              Hi Blue,
I don't know if it helps or not, but here is my vitamin recipe:
              - Multivitamin (for women)
              - 500 mg Vit C (can never take too much C)
              - Magnesium (helps the memory, and help body absord calcium)
              - Calcium citrate (it's a woman thing...)
              - B-Complex, including folic acid and thiamine (AL greatly depletes body of both)
              - L-glut when I feel like

I hear Omega 3 is good too. And eating lots of garlic!

I'm a convert to the idea of supplements. I was at Uni with a bloke who went on to found the Colgan Institute. He wrote a book 'The New Nutrition' (medicine for the millenium) his arguments are very persuasive. Cell replacement is usually about 30 days and by the time I've done my stint all the results should be visible. I'll certainly post what happens.
There are some other side effects as well, not unpleasant just different. I'm watching these and when I'm sure they are not just an abberation or coincidence I'll mention them.

My Grey Eyes Are Turning Blue

Hello Blue, Day 9 sounds great. I have decided that abstinence is necessary for me and am starting with Day 1 today. I tried moderating and it just doesn't work in the long term for me, and I'm tired of "thinking about drinking" all the time. I just want this out of my life. Any helpful suggestions are welcome! Good luck to you! ....I wonder if my green eyes will turn another color...??!!

Hi all, Icandothis I am on day 1 as well but that old wine time is coming around and I'm getting a bit edgy. Reading about all those changes in the way people look is spurring me on though... what other positive changes do people see... does the reddish face go away??

                      G'day Blue,
Congratulation's on 9 day's. The best is alway's yet to come in my humble experience. Bravo!

Patrice. Yes, the redness will go, and the pufiness and bloating will disappear too. Give it a couple/few week's. (?)

Blue! 9 days is awesome.... be proud

As for the eyes, that just the beginning! Next you will notice your skin starting to loose that tired washed out look and your body will become unbloated. I honestly look 5 years younger now. A friend posted an photo of me yesterday on FB taken at Christmas and I was quite shocked to see how crap I looked. I copied the photo, cropped it to a head shot and did the same with one taken last week (after 5 months AF) put them side by side and wow... what a difference and a great reminder of another reason to be AF.

Thanks Guitarista, I am still on day 1 and its very hard ... but I am actually looking forward to putting on a bit of weight cos AL seemed to take away my appetite. I have got the L glut and will start taking that. Can that be taken when you are on anti depressants? I guess those anti Ds will be able to start working now!!!!

Great idea Chill!! I think I will take a photo right now. Its not that I am particularly vain but I look at myself in the mirror and look different ( not for the best) I was wondering if it was just stress or the heat or working too hard but knew deep down it was AL abuse and smoking too much... I am trying to give both of them up together... because then I will be able to do some excercise easier. I know it will be hard but for me smoking makes me want to drink!! Its not the same smoking and drinking water
