Non alcoholic beer a NO NO??

You can buy non alcoholic beer or wine in the supermarkets. I have never tried them because there was no point when I was a drinker.......but I am tempted now. Not had a drink in 15 days so I am very fragile.
Is this a wise move? Or do you think it will bring back my craving with a vengence??? Anyone done this?

I really drank for the buzz so having an imitation didn't mean anything to me. Honestly, I was scared to "pretend". I really like to have a "special" alternative once in a while and will drink sparkling grape juice or something like that or seltzer water with a lime wedge and maybe a splash of cranberry but I don't drink it in a rock glass.

I know there are mixed feeling on this topic. In the past I used NA beer to get me through, but I know many people feel it's kind of like playing with fire. I cannot drink NA beer right now because I am on Antabuse, and NA beer does actually have a small amount of alcohol in it. I feel it's a personal decision...if you feel you can handle it without setting off a trigger, then I think it's fine. Just be careful with it, you may be teasing yourself by drinking it. Could you find something completely NA to drink instead? Just a suggestion. Good luck!

Hmm. .. think its better if I dont buy it then.Especially if there is a small bit of alcohol in it. Did not realize that!! I dont even want to buy it for cooking. Too paranoid

I don't cook with wine because of "the rest of the bottle" problem. I use a little balsamic vinegar or rice wine vinegar instead. I've considered the wine mini bottles but don't care enough about it to bother with it. I'll bum some from my neighbor if I really need to.

Thats the problem with cooking using alcohol. I would for sure drink whats left..or the bottle would mesmerise me so much and I would lose my focus on cooking.
Oh how sad am I !! Oh well. least I am trying to do something about it.

Sometimes it's a good thing not to be a cook As for NA beer, me I don't like the taste of beer, only the buzz, so it wouldn't be worth it for me, and I think the NA beer went up in price too!

Just wanted to point out that there are several brands in the UK that are 0% alcohol - Kaliber, Cobra, one of the Becks labels. Not suggesting you should try them - sounds as though you've come to the conclusion that you shouldn't - but they do exist.

Try chinotto. It's an Italian soft drink that tastes somewhat like vermouth. At first it's a little unusual but after a while it tastes good. Otherwise ginger beer - worked for me and I'm on day 19.

I am one of the ones who actually liked the taste of beer. I also am very athletic and we always had beer after games. I like the NA beer and it has never led to a trigger for me. Funny, becasue there is no buzz, I have one or two, feel satisfied and that is it (that never happened with real beer, once the buzz started, that was it for me). My friends are really great and stock the NA beer at their houses for me and in their coolers for sporting events. For me it has actually been a real help in terms of not drinking as opposed to a trigger. I think it is really different for everyone and you need to choose what would be the best for you.

That's my 2 cents.
