    30 Days AF :)

30 days ago I decided to 'challenge' myself to try to go AF for just ONE day. Well, here I am at 30 days AF, no slips, no sips

I've been reading a really good book on Moderation/Abstinence, but haven't decided exactly what to do going forward..... I figured I would come here because there is always a ton of great advice to be had.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts :thanks:

First great job on the 30 days! I think you're the only one who knows if you should stay AF or try to moderate. I myself know I can't moderate so AF it is for me. Do some soul searching and see what you feel is best for you.
Sober since 4/8/10 -OVER 150 DAYS AND GOING AF!!!!

Congratulations on 30 days AF! I agree with sk8punk - only you can decide where you go next, and look long and hard and above all honestly at yourself. After my first 30 days, my clear sane head told me stay AF, which I know I knew all along deep down. Best of luck on whatever road you choose.

            4,
That is awesome! 30 days is no small feat for sure. how about 60? In terms of AF or Mod, you asked for an opinion and well I like to give it! I took a quick look back at some of your posts and early on you had mentioned about health concerns. slightly elevated liver concerns, high blood pressure(dont remember exact wording) but I had those too at the beginning of my journey. After 4 months AF, those issue are gone and I have a clean bill of health. I am no longer worried about having blood tests! Si I say forget AL totally. I enjoy having my health, there are better ways to die. IMO, for a lot of folks - modding may very well lead to where we began. Is that risk worth having alcohol in your life? Not me.
Good luck and againg great job.

I knew you'd do it, and so will I.
We are cured! Hallelujah! I'd like to say 'Yay' as well because it's vaguely religious and similarly utterly meaningless. I just like to throw in a 'Yay' now and then. I don't care if people think I'm a dork because I think anyone who says 'Yay' is a dork too.
              So 'Yay'...verily and even thus.

Congrats on making 30 days? I agree with the others that only you can decide where you go from here. I guess the question I would ask is what does AL really do for you that is positive? That you can't do without AL? Then weigh that against the negatives - the health risks, the consequences of over doing it, etc.

Strength and hope to you as you go forward. I sort of hope you decide to continue AF. Why dance with the devil when you don't have to?

Well done 4 my health!!! 30 days if Fantastic!!! Way to go!

I don't think the upsides of being AF can be put to comparison to the downsides of AL. The risk is that that you won't be able to handle moderating and will also struggle to get AF time going again. Look here in the forum how many of us who strung 30 days and more have fallen off and are struggling to get a couple of days together or, aren't even trying anymore never to be hear of again. Just had to tell you that. YOu're on a great track with great momentum don't throw anything in it's way. That's my opinion. Keep pushing forward. There really are no upsides to drinking. There simply aren't.
                            AF since 15th March 2010

The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.
