    ODAT, Friday, 25 June 2010

    Hi guys,

Been waiting nervously to start the thread this afternoon. I've seen some familar faces around (like my dear friend Overit), so thought the minute I will post this some one will probably cross post an ODAT thread :H

Well It's allready 3pm SA time and I'm almost on my way home for the weekend so I couldn't wait any longer

Today I am gratefull to have made it through the week and if you have but only made it through today this far, be thankful for that. Because that's what ODAT is all about. One Day at a time and being grateful for even just the past hour, the past hours or past day sober. Because all we can do is beat today. It's today to beat yesterday and tomorrow is only tomorrow's worry.

On this note I hope you all have an AF weekend and manage to get to your targets!!!
    AF since 15th March 2010

The journey is the goal. As long as you're fighting the good fight and you're not giving up on giving up, you're winning. It's not about how often you get knocked down, it's about how often you get up again. Sobriety the goal for sure. But striving to get to that goal is what it's about. Not getting there. Because the journey never ends. The journey is the goal.

She's a very special lady. And so are you Mama True fighting spirit the way you're battling your problems yet such compassionate ladies you are. You are dearly valued.

I went last night. Cameroon - Netherlands. Would have liked to see Cameroon win just to restore some of their and Africa's pride. But wasn't meant to be. Very good match nevertheless

You guys are SO SWEET!!! I love you too Your like my extended family, like a brother and sister to me. I love it when you are happy and doing good, and when skys are a little gray for you, well, my sky is a little gray too.

I havent really been saying much, but the past two weeks have not been that good for me in regards to drinking. At some point I stopped keeping track of my drinking days, and suddenly realized that I have been pretty much drinking many days in a row. Not getting drunk really, just drinking. Not sure whats up with that really, but today is day 2 and im feeling much stronger now, and ready to start making some changes. Yes, really.

So.. here is to a new start, today!

Oh MAMA, you are taking baclofen??? Awesome!! Please let me know how that goes for you! Im VERY interested!!! Antabuse still on my mind. I get so close to popping it, then foolishly think Oh I can do it. One of these days I may just surprise everyone and just gulp it down in one spontanious moment.

Hey Overit. It's great that you're honest to yourself. It's so easy especially after some AF time, to fall of the rail and then slip into a pattern again without realising it. it can happen so quickly. As you know it took me about 12 months to get off the pattern once again.

YOu've got your heart in the right place Overit, have a love for the Lord and HE truly loves you. So you CAN conquer this

Today is a new start indeed. 'Yesterday' is allready forgotten

I know Johnny, thank you for the wise words and your ever steady support. It really does mean so much.

What baffles me is that I DID get my 30 days and was bragging about how "easy" it was. How the heck did I do that anyways? Its like I FORGOT how now??

Like I said, I might just surprise you all soon and pop my pill. Its on my mind alot more these days. You and K-9 really motivate me to join you.

It is really, really difficult to get straight back on track after you have slipped after 30 days. Much more difficult that just 'doing' it first time around. Because you have given in and the next time around you think, well what the heck I've done it before. It is always so much easier second time around for a lot of things isn't it?!
I really know how you're feeling right now Overit!!
Antabuse has been a great assistance for me in this regard. Even if you take it just to get up to that 30 days again (allthough why stop then?!). Then your conficence will be fully restored and you'll be back on track.

I bet if you get up to two weeks again you'll be over the hill. But caving in when you're in early stage feel so much easier because it is so easy to feel 'well there's nothing at stake yet'. The more time you have AF the easier it is to stay becasue of the fear of destroying of what you have built up. That's why the continous reminding and celebrating of how many AF days, months we have is soooo important. It keeps us on track!!

I think Girly Wirly's experiences at the moment with Antabuse is the perfect example how not all shoes fit all. We're all unique and even in our alchoholism and need different approaches. Maybe the BAC is just the right shoe that fits you Mama?!!! I've heard the greatest things. Have you been on it before?

She's got a thread going in the need help section. Please don't let that put you off though Overit. Like I said above, Everyone is different. Different thinks for different people. While it might not be the right thing for her right now where she is, it might well be for you.
