    made it through day 6

Mary cravings do pass. Just do something else to get your mind off of it. Worst thing to do is sit there and focus on the craving. Find some nonalcoholic drink you like and get that for days you have cravings. Don't drink it everyday make it something special. I like this one Sobe Lifewater. Anytime I have a bad day I pick up one or two and enjoy them. Trust me got two today and thought about things. My problem is solved I'm more focused and you know what....no hangover tomorrow and the problem won't still be there.
Sober since 4/8/10 -OVER 150 DAYS AND GOING AF!!!!

sk8punk - thanks for the words of encouragement!! I made it thru! an alcohol free night!!
I went all of last week without alcohol and remember feeling so very proud of myself by friday nite!!
I read some of your story on another thread. I wish you the very best with your situation and being able to spend time with your son! I really admire your courage and sobriety in the midst of the stress you are experiencing. THanks again for your encouraging words. I will do what you advise.......find a special non-alcoholic drink. I like V-8 Fusion alot - so maybe that could be it - I could fill up small bottles up it (in comes in big liter bottles) and have them on hand.

PS- I totally agree what you said about not sitting and dwelling on the craving. I went upstairs to my home office and started working on fixing the phone modem (which I've procrastinated for weeks) and then called comcast to get them to trouble-shoot it. It's still not fixed but at least it gave me something to do and totally shifted my attention . plus now I have a service call set up for them to come and fix it!!

Well, I intended to make it an AF nite. Really "so call" tried. Did my nightly chores and sat on my couch with my 4yr old asking me a hundred random questions as 4yr olds do......watching some program on Disney channel and sitting there trying to fight the urge to go to the store for more wine. well it being Monday, I really wanted to stick to it, but I gave in and put Lucy in the car and went to buy more. Well, I have already finished off the bottle. I am so pathetic.

              blueeyes1965,
You are not pathetic.. you are dealing with a very powerful addiction.. AL has beaten us all on here at some time or other.. please just pick yourself up - and learn from this.. I know its hard dealing with young children - my son is 2.. but I am learning to discipline him (in a nice way) so he does not hassle or harrass me so much that I get to a super-stressed state.. i now take time out for myself during the day, and pop him in front of a dvd for 30 mins (whilst keeping an eye on him of course!).. i also watch "dr phil' which is "my" time! - and my son knows this and happily plays with his toys when i am watching this.. try and make sure you make time for yourself as well as looking after your little one..if you need "time out", go into your bedroom and close the door for a few mins (whilst making sure your child is safe).. drinking will not help at all - but will make you feel depressed.. PM me if you wish as I have been through this myself..

today is a new day so just carry on. i know it is hard to do, but just move forward.
as long as each day continues to improve until you reach your goals, well then that just has to be good enough i would say.

                i got the meds yesterday.
just need to some reading before i hit the gym.

hang in there. we ALL understand. that's what I love about this forum. Plus the fact that you were able to "come clean" and share it with us. that in itself is freeing, I think!!!! Best Blueeyes!!!! Mary

By the way BlueEyes, if you'll notice, alot of us on here only have 4 or 5 days. I myself had a whole week last week (yea!!), and had two drinks sat and three on sun nite. MOnday was a new day and posting on here got me thru it.
Maybe post before you go to the store next time. It sure helped me. Well, that and calling my sister and asking her to tell me why I shouldn't go to the convenience store!!! we're all here for you!!!!!
