Wow Cat thank you for sharing a very scarey story. You have helped many, many people here including myself. We are all in a position where this could be us. We can prevent this by not having a drink, ever.

Take care and have a healthy speedy recovery. :l

Thanks for sharing your story. I worry alot about liver problems, and realize that now is the time to get it together, by totally abstaining.

Sounds like you are getting great medical care and with healthy eating, vitamins, medicine nad being AF, your liver has a chance to heal. Sending you strength and hope.

Thanks for coming on and letting us know this Cat.
Please look after yourself. You need to be fit and healthy to enjoy beautiful NS.

I often wondered why my liver kept going. I had all the tests done a few times for various, non-drink related reasons and it was always A1, however there were times when I literally couldn't walk with the pain in my kidneys....I'd wait till it died down then start again. What a stupid way to live.

I really hope you have a full recovery and soon.

            Take care.

Thanks so much for posting that Cat. If it's any consolation, you stopped at least one person from drinking last night. I started toying with the idea of having a drink last night and before I did I decided to log onto MWO and read your post first thing. I'm so glad I did, I chose not to have anything to drink and spent some time reading and watching TV with my son. Your post is a wake up call. I am going to bookmark it and go back to it whenever any wrong ideas pop into my head.

I realize I usually log onto MWO in the morning, when I don't have any inclination to drink anyway and I hardly ever log in at about 5pm, which is my "witching hour". I'll start logging in at night regularly from now on.

I hope that everything goes well with your health, please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Thank you, thank you Cat for sharing that harrowing story. I remember my sister calling me about 12 years ago. She told me she was outside getting something out of her car and her neighbor came up to ask if she was all right. My sister asked "why do you ask?" and the neighbor said "you are so yellow!". She hadn't even noticed it. Six months later my sister was dead of cirrhosis at the age of 44. Alcoholism is so insidious, so deadly.

Wish you well Cat. Know that sharing your story has made people rethink their "it's not so bad..." attitudes about alcohol.

S**t Spedteach thats just awful, I am sorry for your loss. It still amazes me that despite everything that happens to us and around us it takes that moment of final exceptance and the will to give it 100% to enable us to break those chains that bind so tight. Anything less and we will be back where we started in no time.

I have been worrying about you and am so glad to hear from you. Thank you for this amazing thread; I just know you will get better, just keep doing all the healthy things you have been doing, and rest.

Hi everyone, and thanks for your posts. Thought I'd post an update ... Feeling pretty good .. yellow is slowly disappearing (I was told it could take awhile to disappear) .. I'm eating good things, taking my vitamins, drinking lots of water, and taking my prescription. Appetite is slowly coming back (I'm dreaming about food - that must mean something .. LOL).

I've been completely AF for a few weeks and don't miss it at all. In fact, knowing that I can't drink again, ever, is a very "freeing" feeling. I can do anything I want to do and will never have to plan it around having a drink, or worry that I will run out just when I need one, or what-have-you. My focus is on health and home, and happiness.

I will update again when I get my next bloodwork done (this weekend probably) and find out the #s from my doc sometime after that.

Thanks again for your support. You guys are awesome.
AF for two years. Slight relapse. Working on it at the moment.
