Warning: Your Liver may turn on you at any time .. and it could be fatal.
Hi Cat,
Just read your post and you've refuelled my inspiration and determination to try and get through June Af, thanks. I've been trying to cut down since last Christmas, what a disaster, just a very tiring mentally and physically - experience. I managed 24 AF days in April, which was great, I really thought I was on top of things, then right back to square one, or should I say 2 - 3 bottles of red a night.
I had quite invasive tests done last year for a medical, and despite being to hungover to drive myself there, was amazed all tests were clear. That was the green light for me to just carry on, despite feeling miserable, fat and depressed, not too mention knackered and hungover most days. I'm fast approaching my 40th birthday, and have noticed a bit of yellowing in the eyes, though just ignore it, as you do! Nah, gotta get on top, your experience would scare the Hell outta me, not to mention my hubby and kids.
Let us know how you're doing, good luck to you xx

Hi Cat,
As many others have commented, thank you so much for sharing your story. I cannot imagine how scary that was, being in the hospital for several days and going through all those tests! The good news is that the liver is amazing at repairing itself, once you stop drinking. I did experience a scare last year when I went for my annual exam and blood work. Of course, I lied to my doctor about how much I drank (over a bottle of red a day). Well, my liver enzymes came back elevated...not a huge amount but still on the high side, and they called me back to say that it was high enough to warrant a second test in a week. They said, don't drink and don't take any ibuprofen. Well, not taking the pain killer was easy BUT not drinking was not going to happen! It freaked me out quite a bit but stupidly, I kept drinking. Would you believe that it took me almost a year later to get retested? And that only happened when I had the strenth to stop drinking for a few weeks, so the test came back normal because I wasn't abusing my liver with AL every night! I also took milk thistle and drank a liver detox tea every day and milk thistle is a wonderful herb for healing the liver. So is dandelion root apparently. Well, I made it 70 days earlier in the year and now I am back starting over due to a relapse in March. Your story only confirms my belief that I need to give my liver, and the rest of my body, a break. Thank you for such a powerful post.Whatever you invest in the circle of LIFE is what comes back to you. Multiplied. What you give to people is what they eventually give back to you. Don't do the math. Just increase your LOVE.
BE HAPPY...BE CONNECTED...BE HEALTHY! :h
