    ReIntro

    Hi There,
I'm Suz, Its been a couple of years since I posted on here. I stopped coming because I was failing miserably at quitting, but last September (09) I finally managed to quit. I had been drinking for 25 years had failed to quit even when pregnant (4 times!) and really thought I couldn't do it BUT last year I hit 40, started horseriding again (something I stopped doing at 15 when I discovered white wine) decided I didn't want my kids to have a drunk for a mum and finally followed a nutritional program properly and quit.
I thought I would come back on here in the hope that my story and experience might help others to quit.
    Suz.

      thanks

I too am 40 and have been drinking for the last 20 yrs. Usually 2 x's a week but always into excess. I really want to stop because I can see the toll its taken on my body. I'm also just tired of being slave to liquer. I'm hoping that now that I'm starting a new career things will finally look better and will give me additional inspiration to stop. You should be very proud of yourself!

Thanks for your replies. I found that have a project that was best done sober and hangover free really helped. I also felt that if I quit round about 40 that I would still have energy etc by the time I was 60 but that if I carried on the way I was going that I would be old at 60.

Thanks and well done Suz! You said you would be healthy at 60 if you gave up at 40. I KNEW without any doubt if I didn't give up at 50 I'd be dead by 60 (and didn't care when I was drinking) - that is so so scary now!!
