I attended one of those interviews - silly thing was I was back at work at the time since I'm self-employed and claimed some sickness when I went on a couple of long benders. They said I'd have to do the medical in case I ever claim again.
Stupid thing is they had to pay for me to travel as it was held in the next largest town. Tax payers expense for nothing.
Anyway in the interview it was a case of "I can't do anything when I'm drinking", which is the absolute truth. So they couldn't argue with that.
I had a car accident about a yr ago now and am still struggling to get full movement in my neck. The company (Atos Origin) who do the examination are a bunch of Mickey Mouse so called doctors. I hate being put in a pigeon hole and this is what this company does.
I deal with them through work as well and they sent me off to Southampton for physio where they were getting weekly updates on my progress. I discussed with my physio the mental side of things to. But all Atos Origin were interested in was a return to work plan asap.
In my eyes it's a business who is running on success rates of getting people back to work to make money out of it.
When I had my car accident I was told I had lost 80% movement in my neck. Work refers me to these people and they think they can access me over the phone. And believe me the questions they asked me over the phone were the same as the questions they asked me in the DWP assessment. It made me laugh.
