Hi Xavier, I'm headin back to the doc in about an hour. The most important thing is to be completely honest. When I went to my doc first in Jan I told him exactly how much I was drinking, if you don't tell all they don't know what they are dealing with. After that he sort of took over - you may have questions about meds and supps - I knew nothing so I just took whatever he gave me ( a week of librium, a week of sleeping pills and antabuse). It worked a treat. I since imploded and drank like a mad thing a day in May and suffered badly after that so the pills did work the first time.
Anyway, best of luck and definitely complete frank honesty is the key

Hi Xavier, doctors can be helpful with drinking problems, but very often do not have all the answers. They can prescribe meds, counselling etc. but ultimately it is a problem we have to face head on. It took me many years to learn this. I was told by my gp. to ring alcoholics anonymous, which I did and for me this has been my salvation. The people there have been wonderful.
Good luck..

i agree that you should be completely honest. they can only help if they know the full facts. i went to the docs with half true admissions of my problem and didnt get much help. after i was COMPLETELY honest i got lots of help and refered to councelling. all has been a great help. good luck..... you can do thisToday is the tomorrow i worried about yesterday and it turned out fine

Ok Xavier, just back from Docs and I feel brilliant. He complimented me on my weight loss and how chirpy I seem - and I am, I can see myself in 3 monthly installments thro his eyes and I'm liking what I'm seeing!
Just to let you know that I am now reaping the benefits of being honest with him back then - he knows how far I have come and Yes I feel proud of myself.
