    Menopause (sorry chaps) Help

    Hi

The title says it all - I am really down at the moment hot flashes and sweats getting really bad and yes I have been drinking to much. Have just ordered a jar of Serenity Cream has anyone tried or know of anyone who has tried what sounds like a wonder cream? Getting desperate and do not want to go on HRT. Even put on 2 1/2 lbs of the 12 1/2 I had lost.

Anyway back here and today is day 1.

    Good to be back

    PS

I found Kudzu helped with the hot flashes but that has now stopped being the case.

      Menopause (sorry chaps) Help

I've not gone through the menopause as I'm only in my 30s, however I do know when I was drinking that alcohol certainly gave me hot flushes - even in between bouts on sober days. Now I've stopped my skin and body have settled down and hot flushes are no longer.

So I can't recommend any remedies but I do know that alcohol alone would be creating the symptoms you describe, or at least certainly making things worse.

Perhaps some with more experience will be along soon!

Hi QQ - I totally agree with UK - AL can cause the hot sweats - I have been through M and have come out the other side - but recently started having the odd drink again - and have started getting the sweating again at night - proving that it is the AL. It isn't going to stop all the symptoms completely for you, but it will certainly help. The cream isn't going to do a whole lot. Nothing did for me. I think one just keeps trying different things and eventually it does go away, so you wonder if it was that particular thing. I feel for you, - definitely stopping AL will help a bit!! Sorry can't give any magic pill. Hang in there.

            QQ,

I just have to chime in here, too.

I am either going or through menopause, myself. I had a hysterectomy almost 10 years ago but was lefty one ovary so I was still producing hormones.

I do know, absolutely and without a doubt, that drinking alone will cause hot flashes and horrible sweats. My daughter, who was in her mid-20s at the time, suffered them horribly. I suffered them when I drank, too. They lasted for manydays after I quit.

Now, I still get hot flashes but nowhere near like the ones I got from drinking. A whole different kind of hot flash. Much more bearable.

Good on you for the tea!!

Let hubby sweat a while. :H

              Menopause (sorry chaps) Help

              Hi QQ
I am in total agreement with everyone here... I thought I was going through the menopause too- flashes, sweating (I'm 47 but Mum didnt have her menopause till she was in early 50's)
When I stopped drinking, the sweating completely stopped (and I live in a tropical country)
For 42 days I had minimal 'heat problems'.. when I had a slip for a couple of weeks ... within hours the sweating was back... it was a question of elimination, it was definely the alcohol.

Exactly the same as Patrice. My Mum never had 'menopause' she just - stopped - so to speak, and both my sisters were the same, but I was beating myself up last year cos I was having such a rotten time with menopause - really bad sweating, specially at night - gave up the grog - amazing - my 'menopause' was over:H

You can also look into the herbal extract Vitex or Chastberry Tree. You might consider an OTC topical progesterone cream - look at healthfood stores for Emerita or Lifeflow. Zenny is spot on about the black cohosh.

You people really are the best.

Guess it is looking like a combination of the two AL and the menopause. I am 52 and older than when my Mum went through it. Had no AL since Sat and yes today not so frequent with the hot flashes and sweats but still bad. Looks like AL is most likely making them worse. The cream I have ordered is a progesterone cream will see how I get on with that and AF.

Well bring on day 2........................ again - I will have to stop and think AL hot flash - no AL much more comfort. How the hell did I allow myself to get to this point in my life. Hindsight is a wonderful thing...............................

Once again thank you so much for all your replies down to me now.

                      Menopause (sorry chaps) Help

QQ - I've been having a terrible time with menopause. Thought I was all done with it because I was over a year with no periods but got hit big time with depression and mood swings. I finally forced myself to go to the doctor and ask for help a couple of months ago. I am slowly coming out of it now. Changed anti-depressants....started talking to a counselor. I tried hormones but couldn't take them. But, I did start taking 'Estroven'. It does seem to help. It does have Black Cohash in it along with some other things. The gyno recommended it. I would suggest giving that a try. Good luck. Just know that you are not alone in this. :l

Thanx Nora and once again to everyone else.

Black Cohash seems to the most popular suggestion, of course along with leaving out AL. Will give it a try. Day 2 done and now on day 3 still getting them but not so intense and seem to be less at night guess that is the benefit of AF.
