TECHIE'S 30 DAY CLEAN SOBER CHALLENGE

Been putting off getting car repaired so today took it to the garage, air con broken and it's 90f at the moment, handbrake also broken....

Good news - hand brake is only ?150 to fix and car be ready tomorrow
Bad news - radiator has rotted (it's a very old car) so air con can't be repaired, new radiator too expensive. Does anyone know implications for driving without a working radiator? Hopefully I can get by without one....

TECHIE'S 30 DAY CLEAN SOBER CHALLENGE

Today has dawned sunny and with a clear sky ..... but only 10 degrees. I love these crispy days.

Nora C - that extended serenity prayer was perfect timing for something going on here. Thanks.

Sk8pnk and DG - thanks for being such inspirations.

Girly - I have to say that I''d be choosing to go against the counsellor's advice too!

Hello to every one - have a great day wherever you are.

            Good Morning all,
Nora C this came at a good time for me too...i was just needing an extra incentive!
Am reading Susan Powters "Sober and staying that way" at the moment, so interesting the connection between nutrition and staying sober...more than interesting actually...imperative to get the body nutritionlly balanced,
            My goals today,
            1. Not to drink
            2. Only eat high value nutritional food today

All the best to you all

Molly - I am so very sorry. Such sad, sad news.

I'm sorry to hear others in a position to relate to that prayer but glad to have found and shared it. It is such a confusing and humiliating situation for me to be in. I need to find others so I don't feel so alone with it. Just like the alcohol struggle. PAS definitely lead to my al struggles.

I read that Susan Powter book too Mayday. Loved it. I will always remember her verbally telling the AL devil to "get the f*k back!" and the fact that the cig and al companies don't give a crap about the pain and poverty they instill all the while merrily profiting. B*tards!!

Molly sorry about your news too.

                      This is so inspiring!

Day one, wasn't sure if the goal was meant to be for the day or long term. My goal that day was to get through the day at work hungover and after a late night, get home, and get to bed early. Which I did. My long term goal is to finish decorating downstairs by December 1st so I can enjoy the run up to christmas.

Day two, I decided a few weeks ago to live for the present, come to terms with the past and not stress about the future. Also to try to make up for the hurt I have caused over the last few years. So I have been trying to be a better person, and yes - to spread some joy. So I'm staying in the present, enjoying the good stuff, and trying to work through the bad stuff that comes along.

Went line dancing tonight and had diet coke. Feeling good and looking forward to the thought for tomorrow!!

day 3 for me too in Aus. Feel really good but Im having awful nightmares and sweating in bed. Also am really craving chocolate which is weird coz i dont like sweet stuff normally.
Really need to drop about 10 kilos, as this drinking has piled on weight for me over the last year. I just look really puffy in the face, did anyone else get that????

Silly-billy - you name it, one of us will have had it!! :welcome: to you - stick around!! Very well done on your 3 days!!!

The sweating in bed stuff is common when you are drinking (so is bloated face .... and bloated everywhere else too :H:H). It will get better. Put some newly cleaned sheets on the bed to treat yourself!!

Re sugar cravings - alcohol has a lot of sugar in it so you need to either ride it out, or find another sugar replacement. There are lots of chocolate lovers on here (in fact I'm surprised there isn't a separate chocolate thread!!) Dried fruit is another alternative ...... but my personal favorite is gummy snakes!!

All very normal symptoms. A lot of people on here have taken a shine to ice cream too!

                                Thought For Day 3

                                Give a little more
In every situation there is the opportunity to give a little bit more. By doing so, you can vastly improve the value created in that situation.
If you've already invested time and effort in something, consider giving just a little bit more. Add to the momentum that's already there.

If you're already making the effort, giving a little bit more gives even more value to the effort you've already made. It creates greater value from the combined effort.

There are plenty of opportunities to give a little bit more. By doing so, you can easily distinguish yourself and set yourself apart from the crowd.

Make the most of the momentum you've already established by extending the momentum as long as you can. Once you're on a roll, give a little more, and keep your efforts rolling strong.
